MANUEL RODRIGUEZ C3F CABALLERO FLAMENCO

Am thinking of making a purchase of the above guitar (currently using a v cheap classical) and I am after some advice if possible as to its quality etc. It will be my first Flamenco Guitar and I would most definitely put myself down as a beginner. Cheers

Is this the guitar that has a signed label with a picture of a man in an apron? If so I've seen them on eBay for $300 USD used. I think it's ok for a starter instrument, but overall nothing special. I wouldn't pay more than $300 USD. If you do a search you should find sound clips of it on the Foro.

Not sure about the chap in an apron but it will def be a starter model for me. Retailing around £250 in UK. Anything got to be better than a £30 MDF guitar

I own the Manuel Rodriguez C3F guitar you are inquiring about. It was my first Flamenco and it is ok. I paid about $350 new usd for it back in 2003 and it replaced an Epiphone Classical that I had been using prior. Its a decent beginners instrument but lacks much in the trebles, sounds a bit flat and the action is a bit high which seems typical for most beginner instruments. I think lowering the action plus a bone saddle and nut would help it immensely. Its construction is laminated Sycamore back and sides but a solid Spruce top. I have played Yamaha's version of the beginners Flamenco (CGF171?) and one was very good for the $$$ and the other was crap. I've found the real problem with buying a beginner's Flamenco or any Flamenco for that matter is how to test enough instruments inorder to find the one gem? One thing I will say is a good instrument helps make the learning curve less steep however it could entail a sizable investment in your hobby.

Yeh its testing them thats the difficult part. The guitar shops where I live do not have any Flamenco Guitars in so I am at a bit of a loose end for that. I was looking at the Yamaha too so I thing a trip to the next city may be in order. So out of the Yamaha and the Rodriguez I take it the Yamaha just gets it? And thanks very much for replying.
