I've decided on a new naming convention

with a chord like

X B F# C D F# you can't hardly call that a B add flat9

so i'm calling most of those chords with the augmented unison (the b to the c octave above) something like a Functional/Linear Baddflat9.

really, its not much of a chord, its just augmented/phrygian sounding. really some of these are almost two separate triads stacked. some of them aren't even a full triad

so the term functional/linear i think is accurate. because they aren't really classically harmonicalyl classifiable, or at least easily, but they are either chords that are transitory like a phrygian II-I thing, or a function of the mode you are in.

Because it is Bm(b9). B minor triad with b2 or b9 added. Use either. How about D13/B? All the same sound. Also remember when naming chords with extensions, it is ok to not have a 5th in the voicing.

oh señor lloviendo, you remembered!!!!!

well here's my thing about that. I know its okay not to have the 5th in the voicing. i rarely ever use it (jazz bakc ground)

however, this came from the b chord section of the chords that everyone submitted.

so i must find a way to make it plainly obvious that it is functioning as a b.

tthe easiest way to illustrate that on a page is by giving it a name that starts with b. even if it is grotesque and hairy.

i will take your advice for the next batch of chords tho, i don´t like all this Bmflat 9 sharp 11 **** lol
