mr Marlow-syncopated rhythm 

in 51 minute of video below mr Marlow is talking about syncopated rhythm. How this should be properly understood ?

Actually it starts on count 1 or the first beat. When I say "down beat" that is wrong it is count 3 (3 & 4 &), which is technically not a "downbeat". I should have said "strong beat". If you strum rumba those last 8th notes land on the slap or the 5th stroke of an 8 stroke rumba.

I had to work this section out really slow with the foot tap to get the timing solid. But then surprisingly my brain picked up the rhythm ! It’s a fun section - like a rhythm game.

Picado heavy in the improv section but you can learn the main melody. The little speed Burst sections can be paired down to something easier. The challenging part is the picado at 50min in the above video. But as Mr Marlow said in the other thread, it’s a great exercise to learn. And it’s all on one string. It’s challenging to play it fast.
