I'm on the hunt for a nice used flamenco guitar, preferably luthier built.
I need it to be located in the UK and not too far from London if possible. Anders Eliasson, Lazarides, Faulk, Deutsch, Culpepper, Pablo Requena, Stephen Eden ... any of our usual favourites on here, and please give me any suggestions you may have.
No particular preference for blanca or negra, peghead preferred, trad pegs or mechanical pegs, but slotted headstock is fine too.
I don't want a cutaway, or any electronics, however.
My budget is around £2k. Let me know what you've got please.

Why not speak to Stephen Eden and see if he will make you one of his 'Solea' model? It's hand made but minimal decoration. I think it's within your budget.

£2k isn't going to get you too far in the market for a good second hand luthier guitar, I guess you know that already. Have you looked on Reverb? There are Lazarides and Pablo Requena in the UK close to that price.

Hi.
I am located 1 mile from M25 Junction 11 (Chertsey).
My arthritic wrist and fingers have made playing very difficult so I know that it would be sensible to sell some of the guitars that have served me well over the years. The guitars were all bought in Spain from the shops of their respective makers.
If you are interested send me a message and I will provide details. Try before you buy is always the best way to go!

Thanks again, yeah I'm aware at £2k my options may be limited. BUT, all the guitars you mention are around that level.
I'm planning to try the Laz soon. The Requena looks lovely but it has electronics so that's put me off a bit. I spoke to the guy with the Bernal 1a Esp, the action is well over 3mm apparently which is too high for me, but I may go and see it anyway. Argaith's Anders has gone, very sadly!

Thank you so much, RobJe. It was delightful to meet you, and to play your collection of wonderful instruments. And thanks to you I now have a lovely new blanca!

What a super cool way to get a new guitar!
Hats off to RobJe for letting go.
In my small airplane world most guys will let an airplane rot away thinking its worth three times more then it is or just not able to let her go when there are a number of hungry young pilots priced out of the market. Guessing the guitar market is similar?

I prefer my flamenco guitar spicy, doesn't have to be fast, should have some meat on the bones, can be raw or well done, as long as it doesn't sound like it's turning green on an elevator floor.

:D It's a 1988 Antonio Ariza peghead. It has a strong voice - kind of dark and a little melancholy (to my ears, anyway) which is what I felt I was looking for, feels very comfy to play, and I love the way it looks. I'm really, really happy. Rob is an absolute gentleman, and he gave me lots of very interesting information and knowledge. We could have chatted much longer.
I'm going to have Stephen Eden to reshoot the fingerboard and refret it. It's been made great use of by Rob, and I think the guitar deserves it. I will treasure it.

I like the rosette (from what I can see of it). The headstock could be Batman in one of the photos, or could open three bottles at once in the other. :)
Congratulations. New guitar days are the best. Make some good music with it.

A beautiful guitar.
I had an Arizza once, also from the 80ties. Wonderful instrument, especially for solo playing. Warm tone, but still “Flamenco” enough. Congratulated!
If I remember correct, there was also a signature on the block at the inside of the guitar. (Not the heelblock. I do not know what this other block is called).

What a beautiful guitar! Wish you magical musical journeys! It is very inspiring to see the foro giving the opportunity to people to actually meet on many levels and pass on knowledge and actual instruments!
Just out of curiosity what kind of black trebles does the guitar wear right now? I just ask because each set brings out something more of a specific characteristic the guitar has. Although I always like the looks of the black trebles and use them sometimes I never keep them for very long, feeling they always keep some of the sound for themselves and not giving it out, making my right hand work harder for the same amount of sound I get out of clear trebles. I have tried La Bella 820b, La bella 2001 flamenco, D A'Addario EJ25b, Luthier black trebles, Knobloch Luna flamenca black trebles, and I think also Aranjuez (I am not sure because this must be maybe 15 years back).

Hello Andres, thank you, yes I feel very privileged!
The strings are D'Addario EJ25B. I had a set lying around. I took the old strings off and just put them on to see if they suit the guitar. I am not convinced.
I like EJ45FF normally, I'll give them a try after the refret. It may even suit normal nylons, I'll have to experiment. I think the guitar will tell me what strings it likes.

really?
Anyways. Looks lovely. Foro feels a little quiet at times these days but a post with a newly acquired guitar with photos and descriptions really brings it to life!

Well I was just trying to post pictures with no text, but this foro won't allow it so I just put something, anything. And there are plenty of people who don't know that they are the commonest woods for the blanca's backside.
Anyway, thanks for that, I really am enjoying it, getting to know each other is a nice time with a new guitar.
