Flamenco Guitar strings

Hello Foro Flamenco,

I'm trying to find a website where I can buy the best strings for Flamenco guitar. Preferably have the 3rd string wound. If its possible to the 2nd and 2st string wound I will like to try that too.

Where are you based?
Also, what are the best strings for flamenco guitar?
In these days I like D'addario Ej46. I tend to use the same strings in all my guitars and this set has the best ratio/price for my needs (I play also other genres).

I also like Luthier 20 or 30 and Labella 2001.
Many people like Knobloks, which I find too soft for my playing, but again, this is just me. Aquila strings is also a great brand.

In Europe I used to buy form Schneidermusic.ie

Any of the brands you mentioned have the 3rd string wound? Or the 2nd and 1st strings wound?

Savarez 520 (might want to double-check the number, but I'm sure it's Savarez) has wound trebles. They didn't do anything for me, but perhaps they'll work for you.
For a good G string you could try Daddario EJ45C. It includes a normal nylon G string but also a composite brownish G string that is really good.
I personally use a lot of harder tension strings like Daddario EJ44 or EJ46. Those are probably my "best flamenco strings" for me personally. Though recently I've tried some La Bella 820, which are medium tension, and enjoyed them quite a lot.
Hannabach and Knobloch are not worth the money IMHO, though the latter has been getting quite a bit of attention because of partnerships it now has with some big flamenco artists.

edit: just checked, the Savarez with wound trebles is 520P1.

I wonder why you particularly want a wound G/3rd string?

Be prepared to spend plenty of money as they wear out really quickly, faster than 4th/D strings (Savarez are also generally a short life string compared to D'Addario).

FWIW I use Royal Classics Sonata SN10 (regular 3rd/G string)

Paco is using a wound string for high E string in this video. I wonder which wound string it is. What is the advantage of it?

I have tried tons of strings.
some sounded good but had bad intonation.
Now I just use Daddario Flamenco EJ25C, just as good as anything.
At some point you have to stop fretting about strings and just play.
Strings by mail is great.

I think it's a luthier white nylon treble, there was a discussion about it on here before.

Probably it’s just for warm up though. I imagine he used to change the E string before going to stage.

The trebles are not “wound” but they have the same texture as wound basses. I personally couldn’t stand em when I tried em.

you think he put a White wound d string on in place of the top E just for warm up? and then changed it while warming up and doing an interview less than an hour before playing when he says in the interview he doesn't have much time?!

it might LOOK like a wound D string to you, maybe because the white nylon stands out from the clear nylon 3rd and 2nd, but how do you actually KNOW it is not a white nylon treble?

Also, I have never seen a white plastic wound 4th/D string? who makes that?

really, i have no idea what the string is in the video.

but back on topic, having tried both metal and nylon wound 3rd strings (maybe 15 or 20 years ago) i can say they are very short lived (and so work out expensive) and IMO a bit of a pointless gimmick. So called "flamenco strings" are too, except Ricardo likes the red La Bella, and I think the Tomatito Savarez strings are good, at least on one of my guitars, but they are just Savarez Cantiga Creation with a pic of Tomatito on the pack! (sometimes I found the Cantiga packaging a bit cheaper, sometimes the Tomatito packaging cheaper, and once I got a Tomatito pack with the individual string paper envelopes inside the Cantiga version instead of paper envelopes with Tomatito on).

I have not tried them but there are a lot threads over at ClassicalGuitarDelcamp where you can read about them.
My impression is that they not anything special.

in my last flamenca i'v used RC Strings Sonata Titanium - ST30 I really like it
do you guys have tested this ones as well?

sounds like another advertising gimmick, probably just la bella strings with pepe romero picture on the pack, like the tomatito savarez. check what the strings actually are, they may be cheaper in the "plain" packaging.

I thought the same. Vintage & Flamenco Guitar Set Trebles only costs around 15 dollars. 5 dollars more than LaBella light tension strings full set.
