Kevin Richards RIP
My first post in many years is a sad one.
Kevin Richards, a York-based luthier of flamenco guitars and a valued member of the flamenco scene in the North of England, has passed away after the bravest of battles with illness.

Sad to hear this. About 4 years ago I bought a beat up classical in an online auction and had it sent direct to Kevin to restore. He did a really great job and was a pleasure to deal with - a big loss.
Oh no :-( I met Kevin a few years ago to collect a guitar Anders had made (it needed repair after some water damage). Kevin had done an excellent job and charged a ridiculously low amount. We had a good chat about academia - Kevin said he was a former lecturer who'd contracted cancer and had taken early retirement. He said he was very happy, recovering from the cancer (the new treatment he was on was successful) and, being a similar age, urged me to retire as well ('the best decision he'd ever made'). I played a couple of his hand-made guitars - one of them was very nice indeed.
I recently emailed him to seek some advice about some surface stains on another guitar and received no reply...now I know why. Very sad news :-)
