I'll miss this place..
From the time most of us came over from Flamenco-Teacher, I have been regularly checking this forum. Many many colorful characters have come through. I now miss the old guys and enjoy the new. I have seen several come and go. I have never posted much and have only entered(horribly one beginners challenge. I somehow feel a(unrealistic I know)connection to the members though as I read the back and forth posts. Thank you Simon for starting and maintaining this place so well. Thanks everyone else who has added so much. It will be strange not checking here regularly as one of my favorites. Good bye everyone, I wish you all the bes! Gummy AKA Rod (Florida, USA)
Thanks Simon It was your dedication that made this forum a posibilty. It has meant a lot to me and Iḿ very greatefull for all that you have done for us. I wish you all the best in the world. Anders
Oh man... More bad news. . I will definitely miss this forum. It has been quite a journey for me both here and in real life since I became a member. Interacting with other fellow members has been an extremely positive experience. I have become a better musician as a result and that's something I'm very grateful for. Definitely will miss the Falseta Swap shop. Simon, I wish you the best of luck. Take care everyone followed by a big OLE!
Sad news indeed. Thank you enormously Simon for hosting while you did. I've learn incredible amounts and my playing has come so far as a direct result of this forum. Ive made actual friends and made some great memories.
Sad to see you go, but totally understand with the bloody Russians hacking into, and disturbing your website, best of luck in the future all in this great website, each and every one of you..
Thanks guys for everything, this place has definitely made life more interesting, learning flamenco easier, we've all made lasting friendships as well. Now you all have to join Facebook if it's to be continued
Simon, thank you for putting your time and money into ForoFlamenco!
I never contributed very much, was very much out of my depth, but I enjoyed reading and learned a lot. hopefully some of the info will make its way to the FB group, and I can continue watching peoples adventures with cante accompaniment.
not sure what i'll do now while waiting for my code to compile!
John
if anyone is ever around North East Wales/Chester (UK) area and fancies a beer/wine/tea/coffee, let me know. you can find me on fb
Special thanks to Simon and to all of you guys. This Forum has meant a lot for me and has had a big rule on my learning flamenco guitar playng. A big “ARRIVEDERCI” to all of you- I wish you all the best. (I hope to still enjoy you on fb foro page)
what? damn! no way?! i can't believe it.... i don't know what to say.... er.... thank you simon and.... er.... thank you simon.... and.... er.... this is like the morning i got a text from a friend to say Paco (PDL) had passed away.... gutted.... but thanks guys.... i hate facebook, but i guess it's better than nothing....
It's going to be weird not coming here after 10+ years, but I totally understand.
I'm thinking of writing a script to scrape the post from the luthier section, although I'm not sure I have time and I don't want to bombard the site with http request. Hopefully Simon will be able to save this treasure of data

I have a db back up if you want a copy (in SQL Server 2008 Express format)? I could do with some help to parse, extract and publish some of the more valuable threads - perhaps in in PDF. Let me know.
What about a forum hosting place - that way the issues around security are dealt with by the company hosting the forum. I looked around and found this: https://www.proboards.com/free-forum-features
It seems to offer about the same types of features and look as foro flamenco, and is even free if external ads are OK with admin. There are other options too, for a small fee (which can be taken out from a pool of money we collect).
What a shame! Simon, I have the greatest respect for all the effort you've invested, and can understand that at some point enough is enough. Thank you very, very much for the past years!

I was thinking a similar thing Konstantin and that looks like a pretty good package. The Foro did temporarily live on one of these off the shelf forum sites before it was set up here.
Personally I don't like Facebook and FB groups are hopeless when you want to search for stuff.

One thing is to post things live in a public forum. Another is to have them published somewhere else. Iḿ not to sure what I feel about that and I may not be the only one. Sorry to be negative in an moment like this one, but its very easy to get caught by the "flow" and not think things over.
And sometimes its a very good idea to let go and give space to what will be new very soon. Thereś a lot of valuable information in the lutherie section but there is also a LOT of BS and personal crap.
I hope to be able to take you up on that some day Morante and meet you in person. Same here, anyone passing by Madrid should feel free to get in touch with me. (PM for email address if anyone wants it). I'll set up a Facebook account to keep in touch with those on the foro group.
@kitarist I wish I had expertise in IT to help. But I'd be way out of my depth with that sort of thing. If ever there is a plan some day for something, I'd be more than happy to contribute, in whichever way a lay person can.
