I bought this on Blue-ray when it was first released, i love it, at 1080p it looks pretty amazing, and sounds great too. the Rocio Molina Garrota is perhaps my favourite

I own it... it's a masterpiece IMO. I love the first one too but I like the baile better in this one. Israel Galvan is amazing. It must have been very satisfying to make for the artists.
one sort of minor dissappointment... it would have been cool if Antonio Rey's part had been more prominent, like Diego
At least he was in the thing. For me, the absence of both Nuñez and Vicente, even Cepero from both flamenco films is lame, especially as we notice repeat cantaores and bailaores. If I could add to the old movie, it would have been Nunez and Indo Gitano, Vicente and el Pele, and Cepero with anybody.
I could have done without he final rumba and had Cepero yeah I can dig that. Nice they got Chocolate. Fernanda was past her time...too bad. There are a bunch of people that cold have been in it. I could have done with less dance academy cattle calls. And another important document is the scene with Farruco.
Whatever it's other merits (and there no doubt are many), the omission of Paco Cepero is unforgivable. Paco Cepero is among the top accompanists, perhaps the very best. And his solo play is first-rate as well.

Saura could have made a two hour movie on the great guitarists alone, but now it's too late. That would have been a hell of a film.
I guess he could still do it, but it would not be a total live action film. He would have reuse old material for some players. A new film with Vicente and Gerardo narrating how they see the history and where they see it going would be dynamite. Of course they would play too.....
I must admit, even though all his films are great and important to us flamenco fans, the Sevillanas short film, it's 30 min tops, really stands out to me with this awesome vibe. Don't know what it is because the format is the same as the flamenco movies and Iberia (music videos basically one after the other), but it just gives me this warm fuzzy feeling watching it. I dont' even like Sevillanas! . Definately check it out...it's got Camaron's last ever performance. Hard to believe within the year that came out, he was gone.
Watched most of this last night. My wife can't listen to the singing so had to fast forward through parts. I am not really into it either but can tolerate certain styles. But both of thought the baile was freakin amazing especially the first two female dancers. It really gave me a greater appreciation of Flamenco and new perspective of how guitar fits in. My wife really liked watching Manolo SanLucar as did I.

If you like Saura's approach to flamenco, the movie "Carmen" is great. It has the dancers Antonio Gades, Laura del Sol and Cristina Hoyos. Paco is in it. The plot is that a flamenco troupe is rehearsing a flamenco version of the Bizet opera, and the opera and real life plots get interwoven. I liked it when I saw it on the big screen. I think I have a DVD or a Blu-Ray somewhere.
A few minutes googling didn't turn up a version on the internet, but there are disc versions available from the usual suspects.
