I used to live near Esalen in Big Sur...oh the stories. I worked as the desk clerk in a motel/ general store fifteen miles up the coast highway. You could always tell someone hell bent on getting down to Esalen. They would buy condoms, candles and lube. They would buy the stuff and sometimes I would say "Headed to Esalen?"
Esalen ground zero for new age origins. Although in the beginning in the 50's there were interesting intellectuals there.
