First contact accompanimente

Yesterday it was the first time I saw the "raw" version of flamenco, together with dance and cante (one of the two guitarists sang). Not a concert more a party-like atmosphere

I think it changed my whole view on playing the guitar. Those guys, they were ove 45 i think, literally knew how to hit their guitar. They were loud and accurate. And loud.
The cante guy was loud too, im still shocked how a human being can have such a volume and voice and in addition to that can play rasguados and compas etc...

Funny thing is, if you show a non-flamenco somthing on the guitar they are usually astonished. Compared to these guys im nothing.

When I first saw Todds videos I was amazed and of course Ricardos, too. Then I came accross Grishas excellent renditions of Pacos and Sabicas' work and I was even more amazed, I think Todd and Ricardo will agree on this one.
But the experience today really struck me down! They are on a completely different planet!
Im totally blewn away!

Phrygus aka Deniz, whos counting the years it will take to play like a flamenco... 49, 50, 51, 52....

Ps: One of them played a section of Recuerdo a Patino in the breaksb between the pieces. He played it as if it was kind of warming up, you know what I mean; I guess everyone has some of this sort of riffs either as warming up or somthing that is constantly in your brain and which you start to play everytime you touch the guitar. And this guy had Recuerdo a patino.
I told him that I recognized it and it would be my favorite piece, he said "Oh really? What kind of is that?
- "Its an Alegria in minor"
"Hm... ah now I remember. It is a very hard piece!"
I thought what a modest joker.

It's not that big of a deal...just a different way of playing and a different set of expectations about what is acceptable. A pro needs to learn how to do something well, something accurately and powerfully, even if it's simple. An amateur will continually strive to play Paco picado even though it's years beyond him. When I jam with good people, they all play really damn hard and with precise rhythm.

..... o kaay, the better for me

Coz Im absolutely willing to learn this stuff.

What Im certainly NOT even dreaming of is Paco Picado.

I noticed that they do more abanico style. I always try to play "normal" way, but maybe abanico is simply lot louder. Of course their rasguados were as loud as the abanicos, but it might be easier to make a loud abanico than a normal rasgueo.

Miguel, I dont know if you really got my point. Again, I hope your right, and its not a "big deal". In any case its great to know people playing on such a level.
