RE: Valeriano bernal - new bracing s... (in reply to Haithamflamenco)
I did this banana bracing a good few years ago - can't say it gave anything different or better than the usual santos/reyes type bracing for flamenco..

This is hardly anything new. The late Manuel Contreras (Sr.) was making something similar back in the 1960s and continued using the design for many years. His design was a five fan arrangement and the braces were curved the opposite way.

I hate to say it Tom but the Bernal sounds much better on my cheap computer speakers than the Navarro. This is the problem with sound clips on the net. There's absolutely no way to evaluate the quality of a guitar when it's run through a computer.
I don't put sound clips out there for this exact reason. I don't want my beautiful guitars to sound thin and nasal like the Vicente clip you posted. I'm sure that the Navarro is a much better guitar than it appears (at least I hope so). I do have sound clips on my web page but that's pretty much unavoidable and they don't do justice to the real sound.
Wouldn't you love to go back to the days when flamenco sounded like flamenco instead of jazz?

Absolutely, as most of the modern players are transcending too much away from the cante hondo. Some of Paco's earlier music was really good but I grew to be bored with some of his later ideas.
And I choose not to comment about the tonal differences; just posting to show the differences.
