Not opposed to some new guidelines, don't care either way to be honest but I don't think this forum should be as stuffy and uptight as delcamp. A room full of flamencos should and would be a little more colorful than a room full of classical players…. . As a performer of both classical and flamenco, I find your comments about Delcamp inappropriate and stereotyped. I guess you're not familiar with the Delcamp Forum, or you could not have said such things. Delcamp is an international forum with about as many members as we have, and three times as many posts. Demographically, they represent a diverse group, a true cross section, all ages, all occupations, and in every way probably correspond very closely to the demographics of Foro Flamenco. Moreover, in my experience the majority of classical guitarists also have an interest in flamenco guitar, and in fact many members of Delcamp, myself included, are also members of Foro Flamenco. I can assure you there is nothing "stuffy and uptight" about classical guitarists or classical guitar. Ramon

ORIGINAL: Escribano This is a flamenco forum, established for the discussion of flamenco. I have had complaints about a number of offensive threads and posts. Mostly, these are in the off-topic section, but not always. These comments are public and do not reflect well on our community, they dilute the forum and discourage others from engaging. Please make the effort to indicate your preferences in this poll. You can choose more than one option. I'll run this poll for a couple of weeks and then see where we are. Unfortunately, I have always seen this problem as a simple nature of the internet and the people that use it often. Admin here already doing too much work for what is needed (IMO) and this (any choice from above voting list) will create even more. The "complaints" are also a part of the problem. "ew, I refuse to participate in THAT forum..." etc. It never ends. I am not saying it should be a free for all here of course. But it is already a community of such the regular posters, and even after several posts of a newcomer, it is revealed the personality of each, and the same old same old keeps coming and gets quite predictable. But that is just how people are. At the same time we want general respect as if we are all strangers first time meeting....there also needs to be flexibility of new comers or casual infrequent members accepting long standing personalities. That is ALSO a form of respect. If ice cold conforming guidelines govern this place, much of it's personal charm will be lost. I admit, after many years here, certain "abrasive" on the surface members are absolutely charming as I wait for them to chime in with the predictable response. Lets be totally honest... this voting thing here is because of RUPHUS? of all people...and the people taking it as such a new taboo thing going on within the topic getting bent out of shape....and doitsujin with shock comedy....REALLY? If you want, give me a topic and I will compose the entire thread of responses of each member on the list.....I can understand it takes time to get used to personalities if you are new here, but, as I said, I think it is also respectful to put in the time to see what is going on with everybody. In other words, don't expect to get away with underhanded insider comments or baits without timely retorts, then cry "oh the guidelines the guidelines, ban him!!". There is plenty of archive that new people can figure it out faster than simply contributing. And sure, there will be very difficult individuals that of course need the boot.

I voted to keep the "Off Topc" section with "No more personal attacks or rudeness." Civilized discourse should be the norm on the Foro regardless of the section to which one contributes comments. And that goes for all sections. Some of the most offensive comments, including personal attacks, have appeared in the "Lutherie" and "General" sections. Would we ban those sections? Of course not. Netiher should the "Off Topic" section be banned. Personally, I enjoy reading of others' experiences and travels. And I enjoy discussing politics, science, and other topics, too, as long as the discussion is kept at a mature level. We are not just flamenco aficinados; many on the Foro are well-rounded, multi-faceted individuals who love flamenco, but have many other interests as well. I appreciate reading about someone's take on a particular aspect of flamenco in the "General" section, and then turn to the "Off Topic" section to read that same contributor's take on politics, economics, parallel universes, black holes, string theory, and the ultimate fate of the cosmos. I would hope that all Foro members would recognize that "No more personal attacks or rudeness" is just common sense and civilized behavior. Nevertheless, I would like to see it strictly enforced. Perhaps the drill should be: One violation of this rule receives a warning. The second violation results in the violator being banned from the Foro. Bill

If people want certain people out ,then have the b ollocks to say it... Right...over to you Miguel de Maria Aeolus, I think you left your favourite spoon petruding from the arse cheeks of your latest victim! Talking of victims, insults and current topics I must say I'm feeling adequately violated by this whole thread....the instigators of which appear to be having their day. If it comes to a telling off and subsequent banning, then that's the domain of the admin team....this worm can has been opened and allowed to fester for too long....Simon over all control has to be yours.....if ''out'' then you must in future feel it prudent to administer final power ...don't ask for comments or opinions just do what you've done in the past....End Of I don't see how ,at this juncture any member can justifiably be binned from the ''foro'' its too obvious and would be wrong.....can't things be left as are with you ultimately calling the shots....one warning then out?? I look at all who contribute to this highly addictive and quite wonderful forum....so many diverse characters and opinions ,often worlds apart ,but all obvious enough in their contributions ,be them small or large to be a meaningful part of what you have created. An analogy perhaps if that's the correct term. Adam,Eve, Garden Of Eden ,Snake and an Apple? I wouldn't want to be in your shoes with this but have seen enough of the substance of the foundations of this forum to know you will make the right choice in the end. Best pink
