Didn't Nino Ricardo often play a bit sharp?

And I'm sure I've seen at least one video where Diego del Gastor is playing flat

So if they did it what does it even matter?

Keep in mind that you can always leave a string a little flat and tune it with the fingers where needed but...you cant do nothing if the open string is dead on.

Thought to revive this thread in honor of my old Ramirez.

Last night I filed a new saddle for her. ( Former owners had reduced it too far and shaped it slightly out of intonation.)
And what did yours truely discover after hight, angle and width fit?
That the new bone intonated perfectly with the saddles crown just in default shape. Accurate intonation at strobe scale without any altering of the saddles front edge needed.

I thought that remarkable for an instrument from 1970.
