Flo, imagine a something like a small video documentary ' A video intro with Ron playing a piece with subtitles telling the motives of the video, you will be saying a small few words about Ron, his music in mp3 will be accompanying your conversation when the camera in capturing your face and the another video of him playing accompanying your voice , then a small playing by you, followed by another similar video of another friend of Ron. it is not that difficult with a program like Final cut and a Creative from Apple ( A colleague) Of course i can ask the favor of my colleague but i need materials if you all like the idea in general.. recording mp3 with the things you wanna say and videos.. I agree this will take some time but this idea came to my mind and i wanted to ask you all how do you see it?
Man I love the idea it sounds better then i could have though to do in the short time !!! if you can or your friend can do it ...its sounds amazing, il help with whatever i can help, ...chase people up for the material and write out the plan etc....i love that you have a clear picture in your head of what you want...a man with a plan this would save so much messing around..
So the second you are in we can make a list with deadline and general guidelines for the material

goodbye in all this different languages sounds too much like a cheesy airline if i may speak honestly ...i am not crazy about that one...Ron would crack up laughing in his sleep
Forgive my suggestions, My job is obliging me i'd put this in the video only if this will make him laugh in his sleep no doubt and YEs i'd Volunteer to do the job and ask friends to give me a hand if naturally who wanna contribute a video of us can send me the materials. i'd do my best.

RE: SKYPE... Contributions in memory... (in reply to gj Michelob)
All great ideas guys and girls. I have been out all day til late. Let's confer with AC to sort through these for the best option. Please nominate responsibilties. Looks like Tomrocker for vid editor and Florian as producer? I have Final Cut and can help with the editing, if you need it.
My only concern with a vid is there may be no facilities at the funeral, but I might be able to take my 24 iMac up in the car and plug it into the audio they should have.
RE: Contributions in memory of Ron (in reply to Tomrocker)
thank you Tom that is amazing of you, we are on our way now...perhaps if you give us your email or somewhere you want us to send the videos too and general guidelines of what you want to make it fit with your vision of the video....
do we have an mp3 of Ron ? if not its not that important, people wont know who is playing what ...just a nice soft slow mp3 from any guitarist
EDIT
Sorry Simon you must have posted yours at the same time, this is brilliant, 2 volunteers you guys decide amongst yourselves ...i am just glad we have someone for the job..

if its at a funeral home...every funeral home this days has Tv/Projector and DVD player as everyone does a video montage...if not ...a residential address a dvd player would be no problem...Ac will let us know of the details when she knows,

His Siguriyas is perfectly suitable and I have a copy but it is not long. There are others of his around we can splice in.
so that's sorted now...

so you are ok with Tom doing it or you wanna do it ? dont be shy to say if you want to do it, we know you guys have been friends for a long time.
I am not anything lol just wanna make sure it runs smoothly and efficiently and it gets done in time frame and help anyway i can for Ron ...its the most important thing in the world to me right now...
RE: Contributions in memory of Ron (in reply to Florian)
well, i'm not posting so much may be cuz there is still a long way for me to go before i can play fluid and i hate the camera. Hence, this Foro is like a second home to me virtually. i learnt a lot, i met virtually such a wonderful people here and Ron was one of those. i never met the guy but i was planing to ( A sort of a foro meet up ) in the Agenda but sigh it is enough for me that we were talking a exchanging emails in opinions and stuff.
Materials i need arranged by a level of variety between palos.. something like that:
A video of me saying at the front of the camera '' Ron made me laugh and made my day when he posted something is SCOTiSH that i could nearly understand when i was pissed off some guy who made me send my guitar to England and back fusing who pretend to buy something on the internet for a joke! he wrote saying '' Aye man...dinnae trust them Sassenachs wi' onythin'!
They'rre a michty strange lot Sooth o' the border ah tell ye! cheers, Ron!
I'd follow that saying '' i remember my friend and smile:) then i'd follow my saying with a small video of me playing a small Alegrias and may be with a small smile:)
So, take your camera, look at it, say something about Ron, then say something to Ron, then play a piece that you like and let me figure out how can i put all this together..
Some of you may send small videos saying something and not necessarily playing a piece this would be also great..
i'd use the photos that you loaded guys, and may ask form AC..
I'll need to run quickly so go start recording guys!!
Simon: i'll normally double check with you and for the coming three days i'll dedicate the time to only this..let's see what might come out.

Thanks Tom, but it will take a while to get anyone's musical contribution so I would suggest that everyone who wants to, can say a piece to camera, in his memory. We can play Ron's music in the background.
It is the message that is important here. I will do my own words to camera, as I do not play anywhere near enough nowadays.

Not over here they don't. I have been involved in a couple for my parents and a CD player was cutting edge. I'll work on the ground on this with AC. We'lll figure something out.
RE: Contributions in memory of Ron (in reply to Florian)
OK So the deadline for all the videos, audios whatever people are submitting is September 6th for now 1 week from now (obviously it depends on the Date of the funeral if it needs to be moved forward)...but assuming it dosent, the sooner you can have the material the less pressure to do it all in the last second on you...how is that for you and everyone ?
Also once AC knows of the facilities available, computer or dvd player, you can establish the format...and weather you mail the dvd by or upload the video somewhere etc..so we also need to take into consideration the time in the mail...better to be ready way before and just have it sitting there than cutting it too close
finally thank you so so much Tom for taking on this responsibility and doing this, i know it will be amazing, you sold me just with the words

EDIT: start a new thread here, specifically for this purpose.
will do...its 8 am here and i been up all night, am exhausted now but will do tomorrow night when i get home unless someone beats me to it...its simple, wear something dressy, deadline 6th august, send your audio or video to the email Tom provided..also in the email include your name and country

Simon, if you manage to get North, might you consider taking your guitar and playing something of Ron's at the service? Or maybe AC has some contact with Ron's local flamenco friends and something similar is already in hand.

Nice idea, but I am not able to do it any justice at all and I am also familiar with the constraints of a typical chapel/crematorium funeral service. So let's focus on what AC asked for. Ron's favourite music for the playlist, a video and maybe a wreath from us.

Do you mean the version he recorded from TV years ago? He posted this several times at various times. The quality is not good but the playing is fantastic and it has a more personal connection with Ron than a track from a CD.

I came across this little gem from Ron in my email, when we were discussing the Foroflamenco prize fund.
quote:
ForoFlamenco reserves the rights to distribute prize funds at it's discretion. If you don't agree with this, then piss off and go play somewhere else. cheers,

You know ,,I was thinking some times people have things in their name .....like an event for example .....maybe ...not right now , but with time in the future we could set up a guitar event ...like a challenge but in his name ...like there is the Davis cup for tennis .....
The Ron M flamenco challenge , for composition , or advanced/beginners or something like that .....if you know what I am getting at .......
worth talking about?? ....or just me being nuts ......

Yeah, I am thinking along the same lines, though more of a 'scholarship' that we can chip in for someone to get onlne lessons or something like that. Let's get the funeral out the way and give it some more thought.

I think this is a great idea... I wish I was good enough in guitar to play something, but I'm sure there wil be awesome playing for awesome ron by the great players here.
