Any custom Rosette makers out there?...

Hello everyone I'm pricing out the ideal guitar for me and the rosette is the last detail i need sorted out. The theme of my guitar is a blanca with black accents, ebony binding, ebony headstock veneer ect. I want this to be a very spanish looking and sounding guitar...(well yeah i know ebony probably wasn't used for accents but at least i'll have spanish cypress) and the only rosettes that have struck me as being spanish looking are the ones with rose patterns. And so black being the theme of my guitar i was wondering if any luthiers would be willing to make a black rose rosette with a half herring bone circle on the inside and outside of the rose ring.

Also if you'd like me to photoshop the exact rosette i'm imagining i'll do that no problem! The bridge is going to be indian rosewood so for the stem/thorns indian rosewood would fit the theme.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, open to opinions ;0
Please let me know the price ect..

If you are having a guitar built, why not have the luthier build you the rosette you want???

I don't make separate roses, but I'll inlay a rose in a top and you can buy the top. But I'd probably do blue robot heads or yellow frogs with fangs. If that is cool?

LOL That's cool in my book anyhow...

I do kind of like the black rose idea, its a little Irish don't you think? Roses are pretty cool, that's what I chose for my negra. And no, I'm not ashamed to be a man playing a guitar with pinkish roses on the rosette.. Not yet anyhow... Give it some time though.

There are no true "black roses" in nature.

That's what they used to assume about swans.

@TANúñez i'm buying his lower end model where the selection is only the prebuilt ones, aka lmii....which most look more german or russian design to me and the rose one just doesn't look right to me, I mean it has the right shapes but some of the greens and the background color aren't appealing to me.(yellowish background, and lime green stem) although i've never seen one in person, so it might look better in person idk! The rose rosette on juan martin's guitar in la guitarra flamenca is just about perfect, it might be a ramirez? i don't know.

Yeah i like red rose rosettes to, i just don't think it'd fit the theme well hrmmmmm. Damn your right though robots and frogs..... man this is going to take forever to decide! haha. If i wanted to keep to the true nature of things, i could actually have white roses with a black background.....but ehhh i don't think that would look as good. Hrmmm well at least i think the half herring bone idea outter and inner ring would look good on any...it goes along with the theme and would make for a nice little border.

Btw yes sound is the most important, this is just the last thing i need to figure out...and i normally wouldn't care but i probably won't be able to get another guitar for a long time...so i might as well try to get exactly what i want! or at least see if it's possible.

I have a Navarro with this same rosette that the customer provided to be used so I'll take a photo of it so you can see what it looks like under finish. It's not bad.

The top has a tinted finish so it hides the lime green.

@ TANúñez Hey thanks for posting the pics!, and i would definitely say that it looks better there than the pictures they have on their site.

@ Jlneng ahh ha! someone else likes the idea!

So I'll continue my search in having someone actually make one for me, if i can't find anyone then I'll either try to make it myself or have to settle for something else. in the meantime i guess it wouldn't hurt to do a little bit of photoshop magic...even though my photoshop skills aren't anything amazing haha, but probably good enough to get a general idea.

one can buy pre-made rosettes with the rose pattern (luthier mercantile sells them as does david schramm) and i suspect one could dye the red rose black--might be less expensive than having one built from scratch. the problem with having only one rosette made is the cost cannot be spread across the several rosette that would emerge.

I personally wouldn't attempt this. There is a high chance the color would just bleed everywhere ruining the rosette. Your better off just picking a regular rose rosette or another design altogether.

TANunez--what about a sharpie (magic marker)? i wonder if one could contact david schramm who could contact the russian rosette maker and have the roses dyed before they are set into the rosette?

Sharpie can also bleed. I tested it on a small piece of scrap spruce and it did bleed quite a bit. May be best to contact the russian builder and have one made but it won't be cheap. He may want to sell the whole lot that comes out of it.
