fIs it just me or any of you have problems with the site. It's hard to navigate, it plays music you can't stop. The shopping cart does not work. The New Transcription page has this at the bottom:
As always, you can buy a cassette tape recording of any of the above pieces when you purchase the transcription.
Who in hell still has a cassette tape player?
And I could complain more, every time I go, I end up just giving up. I wrote them about the non-working cart, never got a reply.
I do respect the fact that a great service is offered, but they don't make it easy.

RE: Affedis - worst site ever (in reply to rogeliocan)
when i used to order from Faucher, i just emailed him with my requests, gave him my cc details and he mailed them promptly...don't bother with the shopping cart...
RE: Affedis - worst site ever (in reply to rogeliocan)
hmm could be due to your browser that it doesnt work properly. Try another one. Yes there is music playing continuously..sucks a little but..well...not too important.
I bought a couple of very nice transcriptions from Alain. I contacted him via mail and asked for other possibility to pay. He always responded quickly and we arranged a wy. Im totally statisfyed with his work and business. Really a great thing.
RE: Affedis - worst site ever (in reply to rogeliocan)
Im obviously getting older and Im sure Ron will agree with me on this. I dont mean any disrespect rogeliocan but I kind of sympathise with the guy in this video. When I first started dealing with Affedis you had to write to Alain Faucher and wait two weeks for his list of tabs to arrive in the mail. You then had to make an international money transfer in French Francs (which was not easy), post the receipt in the mail and wait another 3 weeks for your tabs (which only came individually, no books, no anthologies). Now all you have to do now is email him and pay by credit card. You may think the site doesnt work very well but i can assure you its never been easier.

I agree with you pimientito. I still have my cassettes that Alain Faucher sent me. I was so excited to get them in the mail with the hand written tabs. It doesn't seem that long ago either I always found him great to purchase from.
RE: Affedis - the cart works... (in reply to Doitsujin)
I feel bad now, the cart is working today and I can also find the transcription page. Yesterday these were not working... this makes no sense to me at all as I know enough about the web to know better. Months ago I never got the cart to work and had sent an e-maill, so I was surprised it still did not work. I can find the partitions from the transcriptions link now.
RE: Affedis - worst site ever (in reply to rogeliocan)
I'm also a happy Affedis customer. Yes his web site has some problems, but the quality of his work makes the effort worthwhile. One of the problems is the buy three and get the fourth one free part. The free one is not just from that short unexciting list on the check out page, but from any transcription he has listed. That is what he said on his Spring 2011 newsletter and he has honoured that. You have to email him your selection for the fourth piece. There is yet no way to do that on line. Alain said he would get that corrected shortly. If in doubt email him first. It's just about time for his new transcriptions to come out. Can hardly wait.
RE: Affedis - worst site ever (in reply to rogeliocan)
It does have a lot of problems from time to time and whenever I decided to buy something, it never worked. Pimientito is absolutely right, I am one of his very first customers back in the '80s. Now I just email him, he doesn't very often reply once the order is dispatched, but you can email him to make sure that he has and I have never been let down once. The only problem I have is working out Sabicas' early titles which are Farruca, or Malaguena, etc, with the names of the original LPs, if you don't have the records, you can't actually find out which piece of music it really is. I would have liked references in reissued CDs.

This is a problem because, in their usual fashion, the record companies have in general made a hames of reissuing his material. A lot of albums — especially the ABC ones — haven’t been reissued at all.
FWIW, if you look on Amazon for my reviews of the CDs you have , I think I usually try to source the original recordings, which you can then correlate with what’s on the Affedis site.
Or, if you have particular questions, you could try asking them here.

RE: Affedis - it's a site! (in reply to Doitsujin)
Or reply to this one! As long as it shows up in the Google search, the subject isn't so important since literally everyone here is talking about how great Affedis is

So can we retitle this thread now so Affedis have no complaints against us?
Actually you can, I changed the title of my first post but it did not change the rest. But I would definitely not change it to best site ever, I think 'problems with Affedis site' would be more realistic.
Can someone help me with this: I can't use the shopping cart because the free transcription list is not complete.
For me, the Order Form link at the bottom of the page displays HTML code instead of an actual page, and Doit, this time I tried it both on IE and FireFox.
The email address I get back for contact when they send e-mails fails: 'For help with any of our online services, please email the store-owner: sales@affedis.com'
so is this address valid, I know it does not bounce back but last time I wrote to Affedis I never got a reply. affedis @ club-internet.fr
RE: Affedis - site problems (in reply to rogeliocan)
The e-mail address I use is alain.faucher@sfr.fr He has always replied promptly. If you want a free transcription selected from his entire catalogue of transcriptions not just that short list he has posted, you need to write in your selection at the check out page under special instructions or to email your selection. (assuming you have ordered 3 or 4 transcriptions) I did both. The next day he emailed back confirming my order and said they should arrive next week. I did the same thing last October and got what I ordered within 10 days. Yes at times there have been problems but he always comes through, and even with problems the transcriptions are worth the effort (in my opinion).

I've ordered, I don't know, three to five times from Affedis, plus a few email inquiries. I've never had a problem, and have normally received prompt replies and confirmations of shipment, etc.
The website lay-out isn't the greatest, but the service I've received has always been solid.
RE: Affedis - site problems (in reply to rogeliocan)
rogeliocan If you just want 4 transcriptions, order and pay for 3 and get the fourth free using the procedure I described. I think if you order 5 or more you get 2 free. Now you have 7 high quality transcriptions. I am embarrassed to say how may hours that would keep me entertained. (slow learner) Life is good.

ok, got it. I just passed the order. So much for the web site portion of this transaction, l hope the service portion is as good as every one says.
Tanks for you help eg. and by the way, you talk about hours... me it will be months, and I am serious.

Yeah, but that's one of the reasons why Faucher's transcriptions are worth it. If you're going to spend that kind of time learning a piece --"months", as you say--, then you might as well be working with a high-quality transcription.

Ole, I just received a notice that my transcriptions have been shipped, so once the order is passed, the service is very fast. As for the e-mail address that replied to me, in case anyone would need it, it is, at this time: affedis@club-internet.fr
Thanks again for the help eg. on telling me you can just specify which free tab you want in the text and not limiting yourself to the list.
