RE: Time for a challenge? (in reply to Elie

I would love to say i am in for this but I have no 100% guarantee that I will have enough time for it. I know I will not win anyway as I'm up against better players. The point for me is to learn, so I end up winning a falseta at the end. I guess you can count me in for now

just get in kudo
according to Ron: advanced players that showing off will be expelled and the challenge will be divided into two groups : experienced and lesser experienced players so just give it a shot ... the falseta is so beautiful
Ole !!

Ricardo in your fast version video ... is the metronome ticking at 130bpm or faster ?
not sure why but my metronome at 130 is slower ... maybe its broken or something

Sorry I thought so but sometimes when I push start it changes a notch
or two. Could also not be calibrated same as yours .... Compare
With my slow version to be sure. The two tempos are ment more
as a general reference. Feel free to pick your comfortable
tempo

Such a cool challenge. The arpeggio is pretty awkward at first. I'm confident I can get it up to 120 bpm but the challenge will be making it really musical..

ya your right, its all about time. you seem to be playing your guitar while at work, eh? you must be the boss, because no one can complain about it

LOL doit, if I were to see the closest arabic word, it would be to one of the words you wrote and it would be mean "mule" which is a worse insult than a tit LOL which I think is used a lot by lebanese when they insult people , sho raayak Ramzi?

LOL ....interesting! I never heard of such a thing, I wonder what kind of industry this is
I thought because of the tux and the busy desk that you were playing at work.
how about you take a guess of how long I have been playing for, based on my videos? (im just curious to hear your answer)
I can tell you something though, when I first started guitar, I spent approx 12 hrs/day (morning to midnight) everyday for 4 months. and then that went down to avg 12 hrs/week and then it went up to 25 hrs/week and recently it has been fluctuating from 3-7 hrs/week.
If I dont touch my guitar for more than a day, I start going nuts!

I am sure you haven't been playing guitar as long as me since your videos show you are young..... but you play very well.....Hmmmm not sure but I would guess at least 6 or 7 years of intense Flamenco playing????

its all about the hours my friend (not the years), the first time I ever touched a guitar in my life was in May 2009 but hey I was in a band when i was a kid, playing accordion and keyboard, mostly classical music (which i eventually got bored of) and then I quit (lost interest) even though I was very good at it.(some people thought that I would be a professional musician one day, but no, that will never happen.)
Flamenco started roughly around the day I joined this forum. (I came in searching for TABS only hahaha and left)

Thanks a lot to El_Tortuga here on the foro that I first met Flamenco in real life and thanks to his awesome teaching that I am where I am right now

thank you for the input Ricardo

quote:

I am not sure how to count the time

hey rumbaking at first I thought the timing would be very hard but then I found my self doing exactly what ricardo said :
quote:

One trick is to forget the arps and only play the bass notes

check Andy's video you can see that the main notes are played exactly on the metronome's tick the Y ticks ( the special tick if you are setting your metronome to tick as : X X Y - X X Y - X X Y as in Ricardo's video ), think of it like that and you will get it done I believe.

btw Andy I loved your work Ole

I am pretty sure I am the 2nd youngest member (by age) in the foro.yes and even when practicing a lot, I always say to myself that I suck, and I always thought and still think that my skills are less than the average of the members here on the foro (I can't even do tremolo). Sometimes I am surprised to see that people like my videos because I just don't see what they see in it. maybe i am too harsh on myself...

Well, I just now saw this challenge and I'm definitely beginner and not intermediate. This would be a huge undertaking for me with a new baby and all.

But let me just say that it's a great challenge. Brilliant playing, Ricardo!!! Can't wait to see what y'all do with it!

RE: Time for a challenge? (in reply to Elie

Just want to check somehting. Are folks going to use Ricardo's opening and closing compas note for note or is it OK to use your own compass filler stuff (if that's what you can call it). I mean the challenge is the falsetta right? Although Ricardo's silky smooth compass arpeggio sections are challenge enough for me

Also I can only play it comfortably at about 72 on the clock at the moment and doubt whether will get it much faster in the next few weeks...

Cheers

I am going to use Ricardo's exact one because I think its fabulous
but I think you're free to use your own compas as the challenge is the falseta, Ron is the best to answer this or Ricardo himself

there is still a whole month

My opinion too.
You ain't really gonna improve on Ricardo's version...
So why take the risk of putting in your own variations....

...Unless you feel lucky, punk...well..do you?

cheers,

Ron
