Rest in peace, Moraito Chico...

He passed away some hours ago, I hear. His struggle with cancer came to an end at age 55. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest flamenco guitarists.

A few people I met in Sevilla told me that this day could happen at any time... it's still very sad. It must have been a great feeling seeing his son rise before leaving this life... still Moraito will be terribly missed.

Wow! Sad news. I don't post much in the forum, although I follow it intensively. But this is a very important loss for all of us Flamenco aficionados.
To young to leave this world. Great artist DEP Moraíto.

I am very sad to hear this. I met him and he was a joy to be around, always the joker. His performance in La Plaza de Toros de Jerez is a treasured memory for me and he will be sorely missed. RIP Morao

Let's post some tribute vids. I think Gounaro has the right idea, but here is something more lively

That's really terrible, I was unaware of his illness. Too young to go, too important for flamenco. He will be missed indeed.

He had an unparalleled rhythmic sense, puro Jerez, puro swing. Where another artist might resort to flash and flurry, Moraito knew just where to place the single note that would reach you and make you smile. The absolute best cante accompanist of his time. 'ta luego, amigo.

Let's get those pulgares jerezanos out people! This has inspired me to pick up my beautiful Anders peg-head again, after many months laying off.

I wish I could play a Jerez buleria and cry for him.
