RE: Stephen Faulk Guitars- Five blan... (in reply to Ruphus)

In my humble experience buying Flamenco guitars, I have come across the question of price vs. value many times. Is a more expensive guitar guaranteed to sound or play better? What does sounding better mean? If you can't play the guitar before buying it (b/c it hasn't been made, for example), how do you know that it will be easy to play? We usually use aids such as sound samples, expert advice, specifications (1A vs 2A), reputation (previously-made guitars and celebrities who play them), ...etc., to evaluate what guitar to buy to get the best price-to-value ratio. However, the ultimate test is to play the guitar. I've heard multiple horror stories about guitars that sound awful though they are expensive and some relatively cheap guitars that sound amazing. One caveat is that, within limits, different guitars will appeal to different tastes. Having said that, guitar pricing seems to be very subjective. I think Stephen spoke about this point quite eloquently. I salute him for giving people the option to return the guitar if it doesn't suit them. I think this adds credibility to his work. The main point I wanted to make is that the question about price is *legitimate* and anyone selling anything *should* have an answer to it! I know I have an answer in my own business. However, the answer will not be a simple "it has feature X, therefore, it costs more".
