That is what Jason wants, of course. Hence the theft of our good name. Even I didn't stoop that low when I set this place up because flamenco-teacher shut down for a while.
This happened for at least two other forums that I know of. There were the large official moderated forums and then there were the small outcast unmoderated forums.
Still, I think Jason should have given his foro a notably different name. I'll now need to refer to foroflamenco.com by its URL to ensure that there's no confusion.
I appreciate you sharing your perspective as well as Jason, Ricardo, Florian, Grisha and others here on the forum. Thank you.
These flare-ups happen amongst passionate artists all the time. I certainly have seen it plenty of times. This Foro will go on and people will continue to contribute and learn.
I've taken a look at the 'forum for the rest of us' and after letting it sink a bit I think that it's a sad thing.
I got to wonder who 'the rest of us' is exactly. Is it people that don't fit on the real ForoFlamenco? and who would that be? people that don't have good discussion skills and need to take things to a personal level with varied insults and innuendos... because that is who ForoFlamenco is moderating.
The rest of us is not me.
For what it's worth I agree with the moderating, for the reasons Simon first stated in the thread about Corey.
Foro-Flamenco is born out of spite, that's a really nice reason for a flamenco forum. I wonder what history, if it ever gets a history will remember when a new user asks, how did this forum start?
I find it disgusting. Maybe it's from working alone but when you work with others you always get into conflicts and you don't start insulting each other. There is a well known important skill: Leave your ego at the door.
At the end of the day, Jason can play the **** out of the guitar.
A forum is a place for discussion/sharing. I am not trying to compete with Jason or anyone else...I am trying to complement anything they post. Jason, said it himself...Flamenco is bigger than all of us.
YOU cannot afford to learn from only one person...no matter how good they are. I only want to share my PERSPECTIVE. _
At the end of the day, the above quote is a total non sequitur. That someone can "play the **** out of the guitar" is irrelevant to this discussion. We have someone who was involved in a pissing match with others who decided that he would pick up his marbles and go. He didn't even have the decency to pick an original name for his forum; he piggybacked on the forum that has provided him with a platform to express his views in the past and appropriated its name for his own "alternative" forum.
You are correct that "a forum is a place for discussion/sharing." Unfortunately, there are three or four individuals participating in this forum (I'm sure we all know who they are) who go way beyond "discussion/sharing," and try to impose their views on others, at times in a most obnoxious manner. This forum is far too valuable a resource to be used as a platform for the working out of petty differences between prima donnas, whether or not they are advanced guitaristas or Ph.D. candidates. I think I speak for many members of this forum when I say it leaves us cold. My own desire is for those who fit said description to follow suit, pick up your marbles, and gravitate to the newly-formed "alternative" forum, leaving this one for those of us who love flamenco and the camaraderie that goes with a genuine sharing of ideas.
Cheers,
Bill

If you had been paying attention to any of Jason's posts over the last month or so you might have realised the extent of his contribution to this forum. He provided detailed information about playing flamenco guitar to a degree that not many posters make. Let's face it, most of the guitarists on this forum would be hard pressed to provide a decent interpretation of something out of Juan Martin's study book. And we had Jason who was willing to hang out here and provide us with advice from the coal-face, as it were. Clearly a couple of posters got on Jason's nerves but he remained reasonably polite with them. And making critical comments about someone who is calling himself a professional guitar player/teacher but plays like a beginner is entirely justified.
I would guess that Jason feels somewhat disappointed with the lack of any support by admin.

I cannot really believe that. It seems that most of us are happy with the way this foro works. Quick visit to the site and it looks like a place where I can go if Im upset or need to swear publicly. I like Jason, hes a colourful guy and and he shares alot here. But it looks like he also likes to fight and needs some ring for it. Cage fighting is getting popular, so maybe that forum is for verbalultimatefighting.
People like me need a platform to express their views. People like romerito need a platform to express their views.
Jason provides butter for others' bread-platform.
Big difference!
Were it only a matter of "providing butter," there would be no problem. Engaging in endless, petty arguments with whom one disagrees results in spam, not butter. As you so thoughtfully observe: Big difference!
Cheers,
Bill

just wanna say i like Jason very much exactly the way he is...and i dont always agree with him, but i like him and there's not a bad bone in his body... hes a generous, talented guy whom i consider a friend....hes just as much a part of this forums success as anyone else who ever contributed here
Also i think Simon and Ron have dealt with everything perfectly, i cant fault them with anything....
at the end of the day we are all the foro family...we might argue, disagree but will always kiss and make up in the end...
thats why its not a good idea now to not start pointing fingers and start blaming eachother.....and lets not drag Jason's name through the mud either just cause hes not here....he has done alot for the forum and we do owe him some gratitude...likewise ofcourse with Simon and Ron...that goes without saying
lets let this thing work itself out...lets not make it any worst by creating sides...there are no sides...just my humble opinion
