RE: What's the longest time... (in reply to CarloJuan)
i took one week off due to an injury. before that, i took i think three days off while i was on vacation in morocco. mentally and emotionally, i felt like absolute ****. physically, it felt nice to give the hands a break. but i was a bit sluggish when i came back.

i have taken many breaks ranging from 2-4 months, often dont play for a week, but there is no better feeling than getting into it, i love it more than anyother instrument its my drug thesedays, must have it

Well,..I dont play at all during the week. And if Im not at home at the weekend..sometimes I dont play for 2 weeks. Lately I was in vacation in combi with joining a conference..that took around 5 weeks and I dint play that time.
It really sucked to pick up the guitar again... All felt numb for 2 weeks. That means I needed 2 weekends to recover. ^^

It was maybe 8 months where i couldnt play properly due to injury. Also after meeting up the first time with dancers i stopped practicing picado and other techniques for years, which was a bad idea. Coz now i have to start from almost zero again.

In the 1.5 years I'd started playing guitar, I had to stop 3 times because of back injuries. First time 6 months, second time 2 months, and now already 5 weeks.
Those periods I'd tried to work only RH, LH damped the strings all the time. In that way it was possible to do exercises while lying/walking/standing.

Ive played some kind of guitar regularly for 20 years. Except for about 10 years ago I didnt play for a year because I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment, and I didnt want to bother my wife.

I later got rid of the wife.
I heard an "obituary" about the late Tony Curtis who was quoted as saying something like....
"Well, I've been married six times now. It never seemed to work out right for me... At one point I was even getting remarried every three years....as soon as the guarantee ran out...."
