when I see yours I feel the need to devote some proper discipline and perhaps engage a teacher to improve my own playing.

um.... I'll try to take that the right way gj - I know you meant to be encouraging!

Actually I am feeling slightly peeved about the whole thing now because of something that happened last night. It was the student performance following the workshops I organise, and about a minute into the piece I was playing, DrRDa's comment popped into my mind and I froze. I couldn't continue and just had to say sorry guys I'm too tired to play right now.

Later it was OK because I did some dancing, accompanied completely without rehearsal by Mark (mark indigo - he's a good player and don't let him tell you otherwise), so I slightly retrieved myself.

What bemuses me is this. I know that DrRDa made those comments because he wasn't well. That wasn't a genuine criticism that I should take seriously. So why did I let it upset me? And why at such a critical point?!! I've got to get over it because I'm playing at the Pena Juerga in two weeks!!

I was thinking that some of the professionals must have to deal with this sort of stuff. No matter how good you are there will be somebody who doesn't like the way you play. How do you just forget it and move on?

I remember once RonM saying that he didn't give a stuff what other people thought of him or his playing. Ron I need lessons in this from you!!!

Hey Ailsa,

Remember, the troll slammed Jason and Todd as well!
(Jason knew a bit about the palos but had no Flamenco tone and Todd would be better sticking to Electric guitar.)

So there you go!

So don't let it worry you, play the best you can an' stuff 'em if they don't like it.

Actually it DOES bug me when I play something and know I could have played it much better, but nerves or lack of preperation, or a broken nail etc screwed it up.
But NOT when I've done the level best I can...what more can I do?

It's funny....the only people who don't seem to get miffed about their stuff are those "Flamingo" folk you see on YouTube....They don't seem to have heard of compás or anything and know nothing about Flamenco, but remain blissfully in world of their own, thinking they are bloody brilliant!!
These folk are chuffed and happy all the time!

cheers,

Ron

Well, for those who missed it, here are some examples of his critical wisdom...

quote:

This forum is a bit of a joke. Most of you claim to be flamenco aficionados, but most of you seem to be so ignorant or just plain idiots.....
Jason? Who the f$$$ is Jason? His sound sucks, sounds like Dennis koster.. May know some of the palos, but no real flamenco sound....
Alisa how about we lock your uploads? Because they sure go nowhere...
And michelob you pompous ****, you know nothing of flamenco, so shut up....
Now Todd!!! all you who kiss his Ass.. He would never be accepted in anducia. He can play electric guitar.. Sure. But Todd is no flamenco, either with your hybrid style or the new style that you adopted....

You guys suck... I mean it, take it from a real spaniard.

Nice guy huh?
Sorry to lose him!

(BTW He is not Spanish, but born and raised in the US.)

So there!

cheers,

Ron

Actually Ron now that you put all that together I can see I came off quite lightly. But I guess the reason a nasty remark hurts is that you fear it is the truth. ToddK and Jason know they don't suck. I know I do!! But maybe not forever

As I said before, I just love playing guitar and I feel good that I organise these courses so that other people can learn too, so I can't really ask for any more than that.

I missed all the action too. Why is it that all the trolls want to make glorified banjo players like Jason out to be useless? It must be the beard! Dude, get yourself a shave and a haircut and go find a proper job

EDIT- wow, just read the quotes. How after that is it possible that he started this thread with

quote:

I didn't mean to offend anyone.

BTW "real Spaniards" dont say things like "you guys suck"

Flo,

To be honest, I don't want to utterly humiliate the guy right into the ground.

He was a very infrequent poster and until this outburst, his posts were all perfectly normal.

It's not like he was being abusive or abrasive over weeks or days or anything, but just one big brainstormer over a few hours.

Obviously for someone to behave like that, they cannot be in a very happy and content frame of mind.

As to why he did it I have no idea, but he's got himself banned anyway.
Normally as you all know, I am very slow to ban anyone (Simon has a much shorter fuse!), but in this instance this guy didn't just cross the line, but rather took a flying somersault right over it!

So let's let it rest at that folks.

cheers,

Ron

Well,... at least he doesn´t need 100 pages for a simple statement.. He nails it right to the point! lol ^^

His post was not sooo bad... all forgivable.
I only don´t understand what he meant with real spaniards..?

That is one part of the foro I like so much... these entertaining freakouts and from time to time. Many of us have big emotions and also had a kind of freakouts in past... So,..it´s no big deal IMO..

LOL!
We wish you a good flight.

Its strange. Every couple months somebody comes and makes >10 posts a day. Then they either get banned or just go away as fast as they came.
