Tremolo Again!!

been working on tremolo again alot and it appears to be paying off!

Just wanted to discuss technical practice method....

My teacher said I should always practice tremolo Piam Piam Piam without the last i.

this way it becomes much more even and the last i can be added once that is solid.

I must say it seems to work well!!! although practicing 3 stroke like that for a half hour then trying to switch to four stroke takes a few seconds to adjust your brain to add 4th stroke!

Also, the advice from Ricardo in the past about thinking of tremolo as imaiP imaiP ((instead of Piami)) has been extremely helpful too, so anyone looking to improve their tremolo may want to consider these two snippets...

Any thoughts folks??? more tips??

Ailsa...I imagine youve had the same advice from Tony??

i'll try that piam idea. sounds cool.

tremolo on the second string is still tough for me.

try growing your nails out slightly longer. i got lazy and let mine grow out a bit. it actually made tremolo easier! but now they're a little too long for arpeggio.

yeah this is usually good....i let em grow and i suddenly think wow, my tremolo seems awesome, then on filing them down it all falls apart..

A good trick that classical guitarists do is for classical tremolo to play P and a together, then m i.
So it goes like a m i a m i a m i a m i
p p p p

This helps you in that you are obliged to plant all fingers of the left hand at the same time.
It has helped me alot.

one of the best tips that I got for tremolo and arpeggios is to not limit yourself to just one pattern. come up with your own patterns that challenge your fingers to move independently, like for example: pmiai, or pmaia, etc...you can do tons of variations. This will ultimately make your fingers stronger and will improve your dexterity, not to mention open the door to different sounds. and if its difficult then you know its worth practicing!
