Danny,

On the triple ras', I thought that P(up)-m(down)-P(down) was traditional and pretty common. guess P-am-P gives more volume. Doesn't Paco Pena lay claim to P-n-i?

Would be interested to know what you guys use most often.

Simon,

p (up) - x (down) - i (down)
and
p (up) - ma (down) - p (down)

Also try this

a (up) - i (up) - a (down) - i (down)

There's millions of permutations, as you know.

I've always played P-n-i. All the music I've worked on so far has been written that way (Manual Granados mostly). Maybe I should practice P-am-P as well?

Hey Danny - Cool articles!

Simon;

I am not sure of anything in flamenco as I have heard many stories about the same thing that differ greatly. So you tend to believe what you want. In reality that is just like any other subject you might have in mind.

I understand PDL likes the P- m (little finger) - I triplet and Sabicas liked P – A – I. The latter gives more volume. Go up to my web site and count the triplets. Who is responsible for what? It would be interesting to indicate which guitarists liked which version of the 101 rasgueados on my site.

Danny, thanks for the articles. They are very useful and concise. However, I have to take issue with using Juan Martin as an example! This guy´s technique is pretty basic, don´t you think? If we want something to shoot for, better Paco or almost anyone else, my friend.
