So I have the Shubb and one of those cheapie wrap around ones. The shubb works best but it takes forever to adjust!
Either I am getting dead notes but if I tighten it more the strings get out of tune....(Sharp) I try to loosen the strings into the lower threshold of standard tuning so when I clamp that capo on the guitar is in tune and there are no dead open strings.
It would seem to me that a good capo would have a thicker surface on the treble side grading to thinner on the bass(because of the varied thickness of the strings.)
Does anyone know of a capo that is a little more intelligently designed?
I have this exact one, and another clone like it, but in full black color. Highly recommended by me - years of use, no problems, easy to put on and to take off, no buzzing, no tuning problems. That's just what I think though. Ask around...

jaggerdsphere, probably what you are doing is that while putting the capo on, you pull the strings a little downwards. Try to keep the surface of the capo that rests on the string in one place. You will get your way around with these wrap around capos. I find them the very best because once you get used to them, they seem extremely handy. They also fit perfect into your pocket
plus, a lot of cool gitano tocadors use these. that's the main reason why I bought them back then

I've tried several type of capo, and got to the same point as Ramzi.... I've got the same exact black one as His. It's the most solid, easy and the fastest...

I liked the one Rmn displays here too, but all other than the part that lies on the fretboard (that got the rubber on it) should be made of plastic.... I used them all the way they're meant to be, but still they left marks, and dings on the back of the neck... AND as an alternative, You can use the one we suggest for just capoing some of the strings (let's say just from the d string to high E, while tune the bass strings down) or whatever

make sure you use a flat bottomed capo for a nylon stringed guitar, the curved ones are for steelstring and electric guitars (maybe you already know this).
do all the strings sound dead or sharp, or just a few?

ive never realy xperienced tuning issues when putting a capo on (exept when its too tight)
is your fretboard still flat? if you look at against the length of the frets, are they flat or slightly concave?
Its a common thing for a flat fretboard to become concave after a while (sometimes it takes years). wich would cause a flat capo to not make full contact with all the strings....
im not saying this is the case for you though, im just brainstorming here :-)
