I've heard the name before, but that's all, so I searched his name, just checking I've got the right one

Román is probably best known as the director of music for Farruquito. But he has accompanied, among others, Manuela Carrasco with her marido Juaquín Amador ( another phenomenal tocaor).

His hero has always been Paco: at 14 years old he could play all the current Paco falsetas. But he told me that he tried to never play a Paco falseta on stage because a professional should always play his own music. His younger brother Raúl is also very good, though he lacks the finesse of Román,

Talking about "new flamenco" can anybody say why this should be called "Bulerias"?

Hi Burnsbyrne. I am going to try and be careful here but for me the answer 'Because Amir John Haddad says so' is more than adequate.

If he can control the quotes from El Gallo Azul and Puerta Del Principe, Trafalgar, Gaspar Sanz and most of all Paco's Columbianas Monasteria del Sal and old falsetas then he knows what he is doing.

¡Ole! If he played like that in the Peña de Juan Villar, he would be given a standing ovation[:)]

Sorry, I missed that in your first message. With the palmas I can hear that it is in 6/8 rhythm in cycles of 12 beats. If this is what defines a piece of music as bulerias then, yes, this is bulerias. I have always thought there was more to it than that. I'll have to study up on these new toques.

Thanks for your response!

If what bother you is the key. Then you should listen to Moraito's 'Romance de huelva' 1992 tune.

It's the same key.
ARZAAA!!
