Auueee . . . words like knives! That's the type of women I have to deal with every day, and that's exactly what my last Spanish girlfriend did to me.

A wee bit off-topic but my gross generalisation is never to do what they tell you... ever... well, not without putting a really good fight. I am married to a Latina whose grandmother came from Málaga [8|]

Wish I had been told this 13 years ago. [:D]

Yeah, me too - I guess we have the scars to prove it now, though [:D]

I'm saving the date! When do we have to make a deposit by? April is a difficult month, but I'll see what I can do.

I already see the link on the side of the foro! ^_^ Nicely done! Looks so professional.

FullMetalGuitarist -> RE: Ron's Boot Camp - Itinerary Update (Sep. 25 2012 6:57:56)

Looks really nice Simon (isn't it your photo in the avater? . . . just kidding [:)])
Unfortunately I won't be able to come because I study on the 7th and 8th of April and have stuff i can't miss [:(] .

Deposit as soon as we can or we will lose the accommodation. I am hoping we can get enough deposits by mid-October, at the latest.

Sorry but I wanted to get this in around the school vacation period and the week before is Easter, which bumps up the flights and restricts our accomodation options.

No worries Simon , I know it isn't possible to satisfy everyone.

I´m jelous!
This is a fantastic arrangement in every way; and man, could I use a break from the area I am, anyway!
And that in Andalusia; with great company, with flamenco, with a ray of sunshine in one´s heart.

Got no opportunity to entrust my pets reliably, though, nor the house / am bound to stay.
-

The conditions you are able to arrange, are incredibly good, Simon.
It would be a true shame if enough fellows couldn´t make use of this wonderful opportunity.

I hope it to be taking place, so that we indisposed could at least participate somehow by reading of it and seeing some pics of the event.

Ruphus

So familiar ...

My wife is Chinese, and she's like that too ... Could it be she has some Spanish
blood? Or perhaps it's just ... She's a woman? :)

Regards,
Jeff

I might be interested in this.

How would the boot camp be for us English only speakers? Sort of assuming
it would be in English, but the location is Spain ...

Also can you elaborate on the available accomodations if for example we
brought wives/significant others along?

Thanks,
Jeff

The instructional team are native English speakers and the local resources will speak Spanish, and that is part of the fun!

We may arrange separate accomodation for you, or provide a double room in the villas - with a lower price for non-participants. It depends at the moment, but I will send you an email about it.

Would be great to have you along Jeff!

This is amazing, I wish I could do it, but sadly, don't think I'll be able to. Maybe the next time if there is another one!

This sounds amazing! Travel from Canada kills it for me, though :( I hope this turns into a regular thing and that I'll be better prepared for it in years to come.

Great, but just to be clear. If we don't get enough deposits within the next 2-3 weeks, the event may not happen as we will lose the accommodation. So get your 100 Euro deposit in by going to the pre-registration page on the web site from the banner in my signature.

Still room to participate?
Getting back to flamenco after a break, and definately eager to join and have some fun, technique can come at a later part [:D]
I would prefer a single room, because I snore quite loud [&:], is that possible?

Yes, it would be great to see you Kozz. If you get your deposit in early, you get a single room.

okguys..i just got completely dumped. I will record one last thing and then put the guitars aside forever. I need a complete restart of my life..meaning, cutting off all of my past. When does that happen? Thi winter. Im sorry,..if anybody cares. I´ll sell my guitars eventually.. good for you though... Anyway. I wont be at that bootcamp if I dont cure myself.. I dont know..

I assume you mean dumped by a love interest? I know that feeling. No need to dump your friends though. I gave it up for nearly 18 months, too much work and not enough passion but I stuck around and the guitar was always there for me, though I came close to selling.

i can understand this, not easy to stay in the flamenco guitar passion. i learn flamenco guitar since 1995 and every three years i did a one or two year break in favour of nothing or jazz guitar, but i always come back and it's a great feeling!
even if the technique is gone, it's an advantage to loose technique because you focus on music and you evaluate how much of each technique you really need.
My advice to everybody: don't sell your flamenco guitars! unless there is an extraordinary reason.
Doit, your such a good player, take a break, do long walks in forests, but think about it twice...
(sorry for hijacking)

Thats impossible Doit. Believe me, I know. What you can do is to keep on with what you like and learn to accept the things that didnt work out in the past. That is what is called getting on with life.
You can also give yourself litlle things in order to tell yourself that you want changes. Symbols are extremely strong. So buy yourself a drumkit, a clarinet or go travel or start working as a volunteer.

bursche -> RE: Ron's Boot Camp - Andalucía 2013 (Oct. 3 2012 12:30:40)

Just sell your guitars Doit, life will be so much easier without flamenco. It awful music anyway...
I hope I can participate in the camp, but it depends on my exam dates that I don't know yet.

Record this:

Ruphus -> RE: Ron's Boot Camp - Itinerary Update (Oct. 3 2012 15:21:58)

Hey Doit,

I havn´t heard your playing, but you must be advanced.

Trascient art ( or how would it be called in English) never seemed of sense to me. Either it was trash from start like Beuys´tripe or it was a pity to fade.

Advanced musicians quitting for good, makes the latter "pity category" to me.
All that dedication and achievement to become dust in the wind.
... And the beauty of sonics produced; couldn´t it touch you anymore?

Maybe I´m wrong, but can´t see how dismissing such achievement could yield productive with restarting life.
-

Besides:
I guess lucky are the ones with women at their side who really appreciate the finer art of sound production. Curiously though I have seen more advanced guitarists whose girl friends were numb for the art, than the other way around. ( Eventhough, more often than not the acquaintance must have started with her as admiring groupie after a gig, or so. - Which can eventually be triggered by social status in place of musical merrits, for gigging musicians are often well known in their quarter after all.)

Having been lucky in that respect with some girl friends, I believe that a pleasure-lover can be just as supporting to your passion as a dumb cohabitant on the other hand can be a groove killer.

Should you possibly have fallen to a latter kind, like to an unaffected child of crap music ( grown up with rap / techno), she might have been a wrong choice, not your guitar. For chances are that she´ll be frigid in other respects of vibe too. I think.
Just my 2 cents.

Ruphus

Running away never solved a problem Doit!
Been there too many times.
Deal with it, get help, and we laugh about it next spring....and for sure your problem hasn't been solved by that time, but maybe you can deal with it.
