cRobson12 -> The Next Challenge (Feb. 24 2011 21:34:36)

Is anyone else as anxious as I am for the next challenges to start? [8D]

Cory

im not sure what we could do about prizes.

but i have an idea for falsetas. it would be a collection of short falsetas focusing on different techniques.

Elie -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 25 2011 4:22:14)

I was thinking about this the other day [;)]

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 25 2011 4:33:16)

elie, you have to participate in the advanced challenge now. [:D]

Graham_B -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 25 2011 5:18:34)

Happy to help out on admin if needed[:)]

cRobson12 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 2:20:06)

I am not sure if this one is intermediate material but the Solea de Concierto by Manual Granados. It gets interesting about a quarter of the way through.

Sound file is here:

The Tangos by Pedro Cortes here:

The Aminor bulerias by Jose here:

Thats all I got so far

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 3:39:27)

great stuff!

ok, but i think the focus needs to be on beginners and advanced. we just had a good intermediate one.

jimi_hendrix and i have an idea for the advanced one but we're waiting for a good time.

the beginners can start as soon as we get organized.

cRobson12 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 3:41:55)

Alright I see what you mean. If the primary focus is beginner and advanced, lets still have the intermediate challenge but without a prize or something - so intermediate players can still participate in something without being over whelmed or under whelmed [:D]

Can you PM me this idea? [;)]

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 3:44:23)

for the intermediates, we can do an unofficial challenge with the pepe habichuela/chicuelo solea por bulerias stuff we did awhile ago.

mrmagenta and i plan to eventually relearn the piece and face off. [:D] it'd be fun if others could join as well.

cRobson12 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 3:47:16)

That sounds like fun and sounds like a good plan. I am down to participate in that as well [:D]

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 10:19:51)

i think we should re-awaken the quick challenges, i really liked those and players of all levels could participate!

Adam -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 16:05:21)

I think it's time we expand a bit. Why all these "alegrías" and "soleá" and "tangos" and stuff? Let's do something new. How about a rock challenge, or a smooth jazz challenge? Gangsta rap challenge anyone?

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 16:12:44)

how about a quick challenge to see who can make the best rap video?

I agree 100 % .. they were so fun .. Abraham was always the host of these challenges where is he ? [:-]

haha I'm not that good yet brother [:D]

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 26 2011 21:02:08)

he hasn't logged on since Jason's been blocked...

Elie, it's the rule that once you win a challenge you must step a category higher, so you'll have to practice even more and participate in the advanced challenge...[:D]

Elie -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 15:34:48)

hmmm I c .. so now I have to participate in the advanced challenge .. hey that must be tough [&:] but I will do my best

btw Richard bro [:)] - depends on your time - I think you should be the official host of quick challenges .. I mean you have great skills and great library ^^ just an idea

Anthony I will be so glad to help as well

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 15:36:48)

i can only record in ****ty quality so i'm not very keen on uploading and to host any challenge i would have to...but i'll see...

Elie -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 15:51:14)

[:D]
hey btw you need to get some good recording set-up to spread your talent [;)]
and show people how great is your music [:D]

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 16:09:59)

i'm glad you like it :)

yeah i'll need to buy something soon...

villain -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 16:34:28)

I am definitely game for another beginner challenge. I never participated (or was aware of) the quick challenges, but I'm down for pretty much anything. I have been working on Tangos with Rene recently, but love learning new rhythms too.

villain -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 16:40:47)

While I'm not a great player or anything, I have yet to see a beginner challenge that is too easy or boring or anything, nor was the last intermediate out of the realm of my capability (I placed 5th even, and think I coulda done better). So I don't know that a beginner challenge would under-whelm anyone if a good example was chosen (outside of excluding anyone that has already won a beginner or intermediate)

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: The Next Challenge (Feb. 27 2011 17:36:06)

there's a big problem with quick challenge material, they'd have to be free stuff, not commercially available, that makes it considerably less stuff to choose from :(

But I think if you're not a beginner, it wouldn't be fair for everyone else if you participated.

Any news on an intermediate challenge? I'd love to have a go :D

Andy Culpepper -> RE: The Next Challenge (Sep. 11 2011 1:18:29)

I think the next challenge should be 4 compases of Buleria: the funkiest, grooviest rhythm breaks you can possibly come up with. Not kidding.

Pablito -> RE: The Next Challenge (Sep. 11 2011 1:29:02)

Sounds great!

El Kiko -> RE: The Next Challenge (Sep. 11 2011 1:57:29)

This is good to hear that a challenge (of any type ) is on its way , as to the prizes , don't worry about anything , most of us enter for the feedback and the thrill of the whole thing , that is the real prize.
I see people are talking about different levels of challenge, and it is also possible to run more than one level at the same time? no ?/

anyway since the last challenge I seem to have developed new skills , which is the way it should be , and in one form or another I would be honoured to be a part of the next foroflamenco event.

I disagree. That's just the point, "beginner" is all relative...I think if you haven't won one (but have competed) or regularly place top 2, then everyone is a candidate to throw down.
I haven't been playing for squat form months anyway, I'm prolly more beginner now than ever :)
