I would also say Nueva York / Granada which was recorded with Morente. Its' not got the fireworks of the other suggestions, but it is a very human recording. Not many at all exist like this in any musical genre.
There are a quite a few great Sabicas albums. Flamenco Puro is a must have.
I too really like the album he did with Enrique Morente. It was actually the last album he ever recorded. The playing is not as virtuosic as before but the "aire" is completely there. What a great album!!
RE: Ultimate Sabicas albums (in reply to flamencoguru)
The thing I really love about Sabicas is the non-confrontational way he approaches his playing. Whether he's in a little Bar or the Carnegie Hall, he just plays the same way!
I've heard his records, watched his videos and even seen him play live in Madrid. He's never nervous or anything...he just holds the guitar like a big cuddly teddy bear and those big fat fingers start to play the greatest lyrical sounds... and he just smiles and looks relaxed and doesn't even start to break a sweat....like he's back in his comfort zone
Sabicas is certainly unique.
cheers,
Ron
