I bet Nunez would be much happier if you bought the record.
This is how he makes his living. If people just give his material away, they are shorting him what he is owed. He dedicated his life to his playing and making great records. Why would we want to just steal it from him? TK

Well, exactly Todd... However Gerardo is not a man without means and I'm sure the odd track here and there is not going to hurt his living standard.
The thing that makes me laugh here, is folk are always saying to folks like you and Ricardo etc... "Awesome man!...when is your CD coming out?"
Now this is going to take a lot of work and sweat and studio time, plus marketing and distribution to at least make up your costs, let alone make "thousands of bucks."
What would be the frigging point?
When some goofy-toothed Internet nerd is gonna show how smartass he is by uploading all your work to the World for free...in an act of his generosity to mankind?
If this sorta stuff keeps going with no resolve, I can see these great guitarists stopping completely making recordings, except maybe for a few Internet "sampler" tracks and if you want to hear them play, then you are gonna have to see them "live" in concert IMO.
cheers,
Ron

Are you saying that every piece of music or tabs you've ever gotten has been purchased?
I'm sure if you look hard enough, you'll find the tabs for just about everyones work. For free! your telling me that if you find something you want for free, you'll just buy it instead from somewhere else so that you don't steal it from the artist?
Lets face it. The days you could earn money by just making recordings is going to an end.
It's always been that way, really. Musicians had to play to earn money. The period in which people made money by records and record companies could evolve is in fact very small. Lets say 1940 till now. That's about 67 years. A very short period.
When a guitarist make an album, Do the company give him the money first, or he gets money for each album get sold, I mean the music shops buy the album from the main distributor company which already paid for the guitarist???
And what about the sold albums for a past players, sabicas, nino Ricardo and montaya, they still get money from the albums now or they already had the money and it doesn’t matter if the album sold or not?
Haitham: I couldn't get that link to work but I got hold of the mp3 from elsewhere. Gerardo Nunez sent it to me personally. in exchange for his dinner tonight. what a nice fella. thanks for ya help anyways.
The piracy debate shouldn't even be mentioned here.
