I'm not sure this topic had already been covered in one thread, sorry if it's the case :
I've found a website where you can simply put the url (page adress) or a streaming link of a video and the wesite gives you in the end a converted file (.mpg, .mov, etc), ready for download of the vid (it works with music too). It's a little bit "outlaw" thingy I suppose, but it works great to make a collection of vids on your hardisk when the "save as" option had been removed by webmasters.

RE: Grabing Youtube and others onlin... (in reply to steve)
Steve and Rasgueo,
i assume that both of you don't have the DIVX / XVID Codec installed in your computer. So windows is unable to play the AVI file with Mediaplayer. You must have these Codecs installed in your PC.
Another Solution (and better solution IMO): This is what i use.
Download VIDEOLAN. It is the best player and it plays every video and audio file that i know. I Use VIDEOLAN instead of Mediaplayer for most Video files that i have.

Can't say anything better than that Arash did...
Videoland (VLC) is the best player around (and I don't say that because the original developpers are french ), concerning compatibility with all the diff. videos formats.
(Beware, it won't play WMV (windows media player) files because I think developpers of Micro$oft forbid WMV support).
I'm using VLC, and that's why I think I didn't encounter the problems you've got... If you don't want to use VLC, perhaps you could try converting the vid in another format ?
And BTW I'm on mac, so perhaps there is another problem ? Arash, did you manage to read an avi file from this site on windows ?

Arash, please can you tell me where I can download these codecs?
Thanks,
Jb

3) Copy and paste the Youtube URL of the video which you want to have, in to this site.
4) Click "GET IT".
5) Click the green "DOWNLOAD LINK" button and download the file to your PC.
6) After the file is downloaded and saved on your PC, rename it and also add following extension to the file: .flv (Example: the downloaded file is GET_VIDEO. Rename it to TOMATITO.flv)
7) Right Click on the file and "OPEN WITH" VLC Mediaplayer and thats it. You can watch the Video now and it is saved on your pc.
So as you can see, you don't need to convert the Video to AVI Format if you have VLC Mediaplayer because this player is also able to play flv files (youtube videos are all in this flv format)
