The state of this forum compared with 1 year ago!

I made a post to try and gain some insight into peoples thoughts on a bunch of new releases........result 2 responses (interesting ones though, thanks).

Posts about JM, OL, general ego-pumping and bs......loads of responses.

A year ago I didn't post much as I didn't feel I could contribute given the knowledgeability of the posters. Now I feel inferior because I don't have the required macho BS quotient.

What gives next???? A sh4gging poll?

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Sorry u feel this way mate, yes we are not perfect, but if u want your voice heard you have to speak up, u cant blame others for speaking theyr's just because u dont speak yours that's unfair. Has someone acctualy said something to you that made you feel inferior ? --- if so , face them and let them know

And i am sorry i missed the 1 post u made this year, u have 2 choices here u can take actions and make it a better place or make a post about how imperfect it is and hope that someone else fixes it for you.

Noones opinion is more important than anyone elses so if u got something to say just say it.

I've been around here for a year now. I still think it's unbelievable how this forum gets you on the right track. So much info, help, comments.

As for the ****. I'd rather call it humor. Humor conquers everything and IMO is the most important thing in life.

Its true this place has been going nuts latley. But itll pass, maybe theres a full moon. Like Koella says though, its mostly just harmless humour. I dont think anyones ever too serious around here when it comes to what might come across as bravado. I wouldnt let it bother you too much Andy.

I fully understand Andy´s thoughts. I took 3 month off because I got VERY tired of the endless yagging !!!

Remember that what some of you (and always the same) call humour, makes some of us really tired of this place. When you have nothing to say except your oh so funny humour , dont write on the forum. Do something else

Andy, take it easy and dont read the so called funny posts. Find you way in the jungle and I know that you can contribute more than a lot of others.

Yes and make this forum as dull as, you know, the other one.
Just skip the topics you don't like.

It´s not that easy dude. When people who has been here for years leve because they get tired of all the "FUN", I think it´s OK to say what I say. BTW, I personally dont find the "fun" very funny and I had to push myself in order to come back to this forum.

I will leave this discussion and other which are similar, because if not, I´ll just get tired of the forum again.

The problem is that some of the persons which are conected all the time find that it´s fun to write "FUN" in all the topics. And in order to repete myself, I will just say that what some find to be "FUN" makes me log of

I´m of
Anders

There's nothing wrong with having a bit of fun IMO, and one person's sense of humour will always be different to that of others. there's little that can be done about that.

But we do need to be careful not to irritate or offend our fellow members. For example, recently I needed to know more information about what style of plans Anders uses for his guitars. But I couldn't find out exactly what he uses because he was avoiding the forum. Anders might not have been that keen to help me anyway, but its just one example of how some members are valuable, and the forum and its members can benefit from this if they see fit to be here.

Me, I'm off to practice... I post too much and practice too little, which is why my playing is so bad!

Sorry, I'm with Flo on this one. Sure, some of these threads go to excess, but so what? People come and go on these forums. Threads come and go.

It's amazing to me, still, that I can sit here and chat with someone from Australia, and Andalucia, and Scotland, and Singapore, about flamenco or guitar or anything else. It's even more amazing that we almost all think the same about JM (FUN).

I don't think you change the culture of a forum by whining about it. Sorry, this seems like whining to me. You either leave or you make a positive change by the nature of your posts. If Crow wants to talk about flamenco, he needs to do more than just post 1X a year. Post something about flamenco every day or every week. If that sounds like too much of a chore, than go somewhere else or quit whining.

It's like Patrick said about his hunting club. There are always people who are complaining about the way things are. And the complainers never contribute half as much as the people they are complaining about (sorry Patrick if that is a misinterpretation).

If you want to talk flamenco, talk flamenco. Be persistent. Put up pictures of monkeys on the thread. But whining is a very unattractive and ineffective strategy.

I could not agree more. I also agree that it's easier to skip the topics you're not interested in than to file a complaint and expect people to forbear from writing the way in which they want.

I'm with Miguel & Flo on this one ..... if a post doesn't interest you just skip it and read something that does. This foro has been immensely valuable to me.

If you want to leave the foro then go, no need for declarations about leaving ... no one is going to beg you to stay. Anyways this is the best flamenco foro on the net hands down so you'll be back eventually. And if not, we'll survive.

btw isn't this entire post an example of what the the person who started it called an absolute waste of time ... kinda ironic really ... and yes, I see humour in that!

Exactly my feeling.

I thought a lot of timeabout it, if I should write the following, since I am not the person who likes this, but I think that if there were a chatroom, a lot of the discussions could be carried out there, without annoying some of the members in the forum.
I saw that a few things have been changed recently here, so perhaps this would be the right time to get through this.

Speaking for myself I have no problem with (for me) unnerving posts since I am not so curious that I nevertheless have to read them .

The internet resulted from the evolution of the arpa net, which was the american military network designed to survive a nuclear strike without outage. The world wide web however, by far the internets most important application these days, was invented at CERN in Geneva.

Other sources say that Al Gore invented the internet in the 90'es.

Whatever that might have to do with free speech (which exists to the least degree in todays' USA, imho).
