RE: Flamenco nuevo cool or uncool ? (in reply to Doitsujin)
These days "Nuevo-Flamenco" is just a term for Spanish influenced music. or even just "Spanishy" or "Latin-influenced" music. The range of artists that come under this genre is really quite wide. Usually they play rumbas, because thats the simplest and most accessible format. Ricardo once said that Neuvo Flamenco owes more to Latin-American music than to Flamenco Puro. often Nuevo Flamenco guitarists even use plectrums, which is a faux pas in Puro terms. As for being sloppy, well thats a matter of opinion. some are sloppy but some are good, catchy songs. Strunz & Farah, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, etc. these guys are talented musicians, even if they just play 4/4 rhythms. And sometimes its good to hear simple, catchy songs instead of complex "masterpieces". Do you look down on guys like Jon Boyes for not playing Puro? I hope not, as it would be childish. Sometimes I put on Rod & Gab or Strunz & Farah, and even my parents can appreciate the music at the dinner table... Thats something I cannot always say for Flamenco Puro.

PS: is it cool? No cooler than Flamenco Puro, but much cooler than rap music!
RE: Deleted by myself coz it was crap! (in reply to Doitsujin)
Could you start a new theme by yourself next time? I quitted this one coz I dont wanna argue about that. Maybe these rumbas arent very tricky and many are damn crap. But some are nice. So all is included, it only has a unlucky name. By the way, I play rumbas too for getting money. Ok mine are more complex. Not Ottmar style. But well..... everyone can like anything. Not important for me.
P.S. Everything is cooler than Rap-music. Hey houheyhou **** bitch wasup maaaan? yoyoyo brother. pfffffff

Hey Doit, didn't you play some rumbas by The Rosenberg Trio one time? I think it was "For Sephora" and "Bossa Dorado"... those are good songs... you should upload them sometime...
RE: Deleted by myself coz it was crap! (in reply to Doitsujin)
Yes thats right. Did I wrote it here??? Or do you have a secret agent in my area?? The songs arent cool for upload I think. The rosenberg trio do them much better I think.

Actually I do have a secret agent in your area. he reports back to me to tell me every time you make mistakes during performances. And he's probably watching you right now...

I think "Nuevo Flamenco" can be very cool in the beginning, especially for people who have not had any previous exposure to flamenco music. Flamenco is an acquired taste and to someone who has no knowledge of it could sound like complete crap. I think one's taste for music changes as one matures and gains knowledge. Nuevo flamenco was what got me started with guitar at the age of 33, and I'm thankful for it, even though I don't listen to it anymore. I was listening to an interview with a famous classical musician. He mentioned that he used to listen mostly to hard rock when growing up. When asked if he wished he had spent the time on classical music, he responded "definitely not!". I think you get the point!

Exactly, exactly, exactly! I was about 23 or 24 when I first got into acoustic guitar music, and I have to admit that it was Nuevo Flamenco that first got my attention. Now-a-days I don't really listen to Nuevo Flamenco any more... only Rodrigo Y Gabriela once every now and again. I feel I have progressed. When I first heard PDL, I thought it was far too complex, and my mind just couldn't follow the patterns within the music. But these days I listen to flamenco (proper Flamenco) 90% of the time, and I have developed a taste for it. I'll always respect Nuevo Flamenco for leading me here, and I try not to mock people who like Nuevo Flamenco because I know that one day it might lead them to proper Flamenco too.
