Congrats RiceCracker!

She's gorgeous! I also have a Jesus Bellido which I bought in Granada last year. Looks and feels dainty but BIG sound with little effort. Nice "old-school" tone with a dry quality and thundering bass strings. Fun to play and great for things like tarantas and solea. Sweet neck profile. Your's looks like she's been lacquered. I wish mine was as the finish is wearing away where my right arm rubbs the lower bout.

Just curious, how much was your guitar with shipping etc.?

Best wishes,
-Jake.

RE: my new girlfriend (in reply to ricecrackerphoto

she cost me $2100 and shipping was nominal since i got it from a dealer in the US. its the Taller model which is his least expensive one and it is lacquered though it is a really really thin coat. you must have his next model up or his concert level?

yeah it is an absolute joy to play. really dry and crisp and i was attracted to it first for its snarly basses but i can't believe how the trebles sing! its going to be fun to see how she opens up.

someone told me that they picked up a bellido from their granada shop a couple of years ago for 1800 euros. i'm kind of glad jesus' guitars are not that well known because i think i got quite a deal.

jesus reccomended savarez corum high tension trebles and alliance normal tension basses. its a great combo but those savarez basses just evaporated as always! had to put on some labellas which are pretty good on it also.

ricecracker, I'm curious. You bought that guitar from Zavaleta's right? If you paid $2100, why is it listed for $2400 and why is it not marked as "sold"(Jesus Bellido #1)? Does he give discounts if you buy guitars from him in person?

why are guitar dealers so shady?

RE: my new girlfriend (in reply to ricecrackerphoto

yep, it was taller #1 from zavaleta's. i paid cash or more specifically cashier's check and thereby got away without incurring credit card fees for him and myself. though that might not explain the listed price of $2400.

i've also bought guitars from GSI (cordoba pro-f) and guitar center (juan hernandez estudio flamenco) and at both places i was able to haggle and left with a guitar at a much lower price than was listed (yes, even at GSI!). now that i think about it, it was just like a car dealer: each time i asked if they could cut a deal, they disappeared to talk with their "manager" and returned with a lower price. also you can haggle about cases, free sets of strings, etc.

by the way, my dealings with dr. greenberg were amazing. had a lot of reservations about buying online but have no regrets at all.

not only does she not complain about my snoring, she probably resonates along with it.

and hey one question for everyone, the bellido really projects its sound forward. i never knew how loud it was til someone else played it. is this normal for classicals/flamencos?
