I´m not first at all with this wood. A lot of American and Canadian builders are using or have used this wood. Many consider it to be "cheap" wood. It´s not very expensive, but the sound quality is very nice and it´s very light. Besides, the structural quality of this wood is probably the best you can find. It is extremely straight and narrow grained and 100% quatersawn. Besides, its known for being among the stablest of all woods with a very small tendency to movement with humidity changes. It should only be used in this quality because its not the strongest of woods and the smell is Special Something like the pocket of an old Afghan hippie coat Will I build with CDN Cypres again? Oh yes. For sure

Hi Tom It´s all CDN cypres. The 3 piece back is because of looks. Nothing else. I like these 3 piece backs myself and Simon agreed to make it like that. It gives a little bit more life to the back. CDN cypres has absolutely no figuring and you can hardly see the grain. But its got tons of silking

Hi Gary Thanks for the nice words. This with playability (setup, stringheight above soundboard and neckshape) is extremely important to me. I guess because I´ve played music for 35 years. The center piece of Nigels guitar is Sonokelling, an African tropical wood.
