When my kids are grown up, I plan to go to Australia for once and laugh my head off with this guy in real life. And play a little flamenco by the side of course
o.k who upset Florian, hang your head in shame. This place is not gonna be the same without him. Ive known Florian for years and he dosnt stay pissed off for more than three days. Three days is up, where is he?
A while back, a neighbour of mine's died... He was a great character and everybody loved him. When the hearse went by the window, I stood and recollected the times... When I went out back, feeling sad...I observed the usual cats eyeing each other up in a bid for territory and the seagulls squalking above and the cows mooing in the fields.
On the radio news, another horrific incident had happened... And at 6.30pm there was a funny satirical programme on the radio with the audience laughing their socks off...
The sun went down and came back up again the next morning...
You've just gotta accept that the world will go on whether your there or not!
I love Florian being on the Forum, but if he's taking a massive Aussie sulk or whatever...then it's up to him... I'd doubt it though. I think he's probably got some stuff to deal with at the moment.
Sometimes folk need a break from Internet stuff for awhile.
Don't worry...Flo will be back when he feels like it...
I have belonged to a sportsman’s (fishing) club for something like twenty-five years. About every year or so someone has a fit about something. They always seem to think the world is out to get them and they up and leave the club. The comments always seem to be something like "I'll show those guys...I'm going to quit...and they well be sorry"!
But the reality is, they are the ones that lose, not the other way around. What they have lost is good fellowship and all the fun that goes with it. I know of a few that have left, only to become bitter and isolated.
Well..why not sign off for a while and we'll email you when Florian comes back on?
I never thought you could be that mean Ron! Anyways, I think it would be cool if Florians returned. But thats just my opinion.
I can't see anything mean about Ron's idea. In fact it seems like a kind offer and very helpful suggestion considering how koella feels about Florian's absence.
Koella, To be honest, I don't even know why Florian left the forum anyway... He seemed to be getting a bit heated over that Juan Martin thread, but I couldn't see why, for his posts were a fair enough explanation of his point of view so I didn't think he had anything to defend at all. Nobody insulted him or anything? Same with Nigel (Flyeogh)?
Koella...I felt you were saying that the Forum wasn't the same for you anymore, since Florian stopped posting. As far as I'm concerned, the Forum has had lots of interesting/informative and humorous posts in the past few weeks, so it seemed a pretty logical comment if you think about it.
Florian is a good contributor, a keen Flamenco player and a lot of fun and he knows he's always welcome here.

I don't think it was Florian's opinion that was the issue - there were many in that thread who agreed with him and who I would say actually went further with their criticism of JM.
I may be wrong (probably ) but it looked to me as though Florian interpreted some things that you said as veiled comments about him and the way he plays. The Juan thread had already heated things up round here, and at the same time there were some modern vs trad debates going on. There were a few misunderstandings as far as I could see, and I think when you started talking about people uploading clips where they 'tinkle' away with modern style rasgueados, he took that as a direct criticism. Florians parting shot was to say something about '..no one wanting to help anyone round here any more, just veiled insults' (paraphrasing not quoting).
Hmm..maybe Jon, But we're sort of back at the "walking on eggshells" thing though. Florian's hardly the shy, timid, type likely to take offence easily now, is he? Anyway he's known my views for years and has even slagged me for being an old fart stuck in the past etc. so I can't see that being a problem with him at all. My guess is that it's possibly something more than a Forum issue, but all the arguing and heated debate going on here was enough to tip him into taking a break?

Ron
Well the forum isn't the same without Florian jumping all over the place And I think I'm not the only one who has that opinion.
But nevermind. The foro is still too interesting and informative to sign off. It's just..uhhh....different ?
I don't think Ron is being unreasonable or callous. Perhaps Florian needed a break in general. Either way, I don't think it's fair to lay the blame on Ron - the onus is not on him or anyone else to keep grown men from sulking. To be sure, I look forward to Florian's return, he's quite the character, and besides, he has really helped out with the foro, especially the tabs and audio/video section.
why should ron.m be guilty? i hope florina dont think he punishing this froum because he only punishing hisself. but, when he come back and read all this post he will enjoy all the attention he getting.
Its clearly not 100% Ron's fault. Two rules we would all do well to remember are:
1. take care not to be over-sensitive 2. take care not to deliberately offend others
I hope Florian decides to rejoin us soon, but Ron is right that life goes on in the meantime. Although I do admit that its not quite the same without Florian.
I also noticed Thomas Whitely has not logged on for some time now, lets hope he hasn't had enough of us too!

Hardly. I think the guy has a life, which we tend to forget from time to time since he's such a regular, and he's just out doing his thing. It would probably be a good idea to just give him some space/respect.
Another member I hardly see anymore is ToddK. Alot of people don't agree with his approach/views either, but I know my playing is better because of him. Same for Florian too, and Jon B., Ricardo and really alot others

Good advice - although I don't think Ron is to blame in any way. There were quite a few insults thrown in that thread - but none by Ron. I think one problem is that some people are not native English speakers and so misunderstanding arise. These people would do well to make sure they read a post for longer than a nanosecond before jumping in with aggresive replies to imagined insults.
