Subtle change in scalloping

A customer that I had built three flamenco guitars for liked them a lot. But one day he brought a guitar for me to examine, made by "Barbero, Hijo." He liked the sound of that guitar a little better and I did too. I pressed on the belly of the soundboard and noticed that it was stiffer than mine had been. So for the fourth guitar for this customer I changed the way I scalloped the "closing bars" of the fan braces. They are four inches long and I used to scallop them from the middle to the ends, so two inches at each end. Now I am scalloping them just one inch from each end, which makes the soundboard as stiff as the "Barbera Hijo" guitar and sound similar. The notes seem to be of more even strength throughout the range. Just thought I'd mention it.
