Blue Origin Rocket with Six Bimbos

Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin rocket lifted off with six bimbos for a ten minute ride to the edge of space and back, as Bezos and others touted it as a "mission" with an all-female "crew." It was neither a "mission" nor was it an all-female "crew." It was completely automated, and the six bimbos represented the gauche, self-absorbed superficiality of the shallowness represented by Oprah Winfrey, who was on-hand to tout the "vulnerability" of the six. The Washington Post described Winfrey suggesting that her friend on board experienced profound anxiety during air travel. “This is overcoming a wall of fear, a barrier; I think it’s going to be cathartic in many ways for her,” she said, adding, "this is bigger than just going to space." How very Oprah Winfrey.

It's Bezos's money and his project. He can do what he wants, but it is disgusting to see such flaunting of shallow bimbos in their designer "space suits" expressing "vulnerability" as described by Winfrey when there are real women astronauts doing real scientific work out there. There was even a Kardashian on board. Further evidence we live in the era of "reality TV."

Last I checked, the idea of going "into space" is that, there is NO AIR through which to travel. Anyway, I support bimbos in space. Maybe give em some thing to do like run an experiment on fake tits and make up in micro gravity or something, they can still do science even if they don't know much about thermodynamics. More revealing space suits might be a plus, who knows. I was hoping Katy would lip-sync fireworks up there, her master piece of compositional form, structure, and pure emotion. Taking a daisy up there in fact was a bit of a biological experiment anyway. I hope to see more of this. I hope Katy's paper "the effects of microgravity on fake tits and daisies" doesn't get held up too long in peer review, cuz I want to read it. Her referee is Taylor "swift" so it should not take long.

Folks, this aside, and not trying to hijack this thread, but I just don't know what on earth is happening in this world anymore. The combination of politics, oligarchs, AI, etc. is just giving me a sense of dread about where this planet is going to be in three to five years. You know I'm a psychiatrist, and I receive such a number of people being significantly impacted by current events. Anyway, feel free to ignore this comment and get back to the original topic.

At least you know you will still be in business!

Here is my vision for the near future...now we have phone and internet google or whatever, and bombarded by scam texts, news feed blasting by with short clips of junk, decent musicians have 4 sec of music clip then next, and junk email filling our inbox...well that whole thing is going to increase to the point were we can't even use the devices/apps etc., or even understand all the junk coming in....like a brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, solid sheet of continuous white noise spam junk music and ads coming in at such a speed it is meaningless.

And we will have to turn it off and disconnect. Or they will have to make a second internet for rich people or something. I guess they probably have that already.

RE: Blue Origin Rocket with Six Bimbos (in reply to BarkellWH

This is a section from an article in today's Guardian in the UK.

Blue Origin itself is a product of state abandonment of space exploration. Founded in 2000 to fill the void left by the federal government’s effort to privatize the work of agencies like Nasa, Blue Origin has long been a pet project of Bezos, who was almost the sole funder of the company in its early years. Focused on tourism, rather than scientific inquiry, the company is best known for its slow technological development in comparison with its main competitor, SpaceX (another space tourism vehicle, launched by the Trump adviser and mega-donor Elon Musk); for the giggle-inducing obscene look of its rockets; and for its periodic publicity stunt flights featuring celebrities (William Shatner has also taken the ride). Bezos’s Amazon donated $1m to Trump’s most recent inauguration, and he intervened during the 2024 election to stop the Washington Post, the newspaper he owns, from endorsing Kamala Harris; the Trump administration, for its part, just awarded Blue Origin a contract worth more than $2bn.

Once, Nasa was the pride of the American experiment: a testament to how a society dedicated to legal equality and passionate hard work could expand the horizons of human possibility. Now, Blue Origin is a testament to the corruption and circumscribed possibilities of the profit motive run amok. Space used to be a frontier for human exploration, a fount of innovation, and a symbol of a bright, uncertain and expansive future. Now, it is a backdrop for the Instagram selfies of the rich and narcissistic. The Blue Origin flight does not make me feel like humanity will reach new heights of achievement. It makes me feel like everything that is coming is grimly predictable, tailored to the impulses of the richest, least responsible and least morally intelligent people on Earth.

But the flight, and its grim promotional cycle, might be most depressing for what it reveals about the utter defeat of American feminism. Sánchez, the organizer of the flight, has touted the all-female crew as a win for women. But she herself is a woman in a deeply antifeminist model. It is not her rocket company that took her and her friends to the edge of space; it’s her male fiance’s. And it is no virtue of her character that put her inside the rocket – not her capacity, not her intellect and not her hard work – but merely her relationship with a man. (The fact that the rocket itself looks so phallic does not help to lessen the flight’s message that the surest way for women to raise themselves in the world is to attach themselves to a man.)

There are at least two women on the mission who can be credited as serious persons: Aisha Bowe, an aerospace engineer, and Amanda Nguyen, a civil rights entrepreneur whose past work with Nasa makes her something closer to an actual astronaut. But most of the crew’s self-presentation and promotion of the flight has leaned heavily on a vision of women’s empowerment that is light on substance and heavy on a childlike, girlish silliness that insults women by cavalierly linking their gender with superficiality, vanity and unseriousness.

In an interview with Elle, the crew members paid lip service to the importance of women, and particularly women of color, in Stem. (The Trump administration has forced Nasa to close some offices in order to comply with its ban on the diversity, equity and inclusion programs that would recruit such candidates.) But mostly, they seemed interested in talking about their makeup and hair. “Space is going to finally be glam,” Katy Perry said, bizarrely. “Let me tell you something. If I could take glam up with me, I would do that. We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut.”

At least, Viva Harvard. (57B$?? can this be true)

This was predicted a long time ago in a book I read back in high school called Future Shock by Alvin Toffler-from wiki:

he foresaw another problem for the future, when a culturally "new environment comes to you ... and comes to you rapidly." That kind of sudden cultural change within one's own country, which he felt many would not understand, would lead to a similar reaction, one of "future shock", which he wrote about in his book by that title.[21] Toffler writes:

We must search out totally new ways to anchor ourselves, for all the old roots—religion, nation, community, family, or profession—are now shaking under the hurricane impact of the accelerative thrust.[17][22]

I actually don't think I will, though... Now "robo-therapists" are being favored instead of real therapists and they are yielding better results than human therapists (who have emotions, can have a bad day, be triggered by a certain patient, etc.). Services now like Hims or Hers allow you to text a bot (reportedly a human doctor, but I doubt it) and get psychiatric drugs mailed to your doorstep.

I was watching this the other day:

My university is now officially endorsing the use of AI tools (like Grammarly) to literally write your papers / answer your homework questions. "Professors" now basically just use pre-made materials and automatically generate test questions so basically they have more or less zero real involvement with students.

I don't know, y'all, but I just don't feel like society / the world is heading in the right direction. Things are accelerating at a pace that is dangerously fast to human / brain evolution, and I think we're trending ominously.

I notice a movement where now it's becoming fashionable to go back to less advanced technologies, like vinyl, cassette tapes, iPods (which have no internet connectivity), etc. I think people are realizing something bad is coming from all these rapid changes, so they're "fighting back" and trying to disconnect.

Maybe I'm being too dramatic...

Not if the vessel containing the humans is pressurized. In an unpressurized environment your sinuses would blow up first.

Correction- 5 non space crew personnel, one woman Nyugen, she is an actual pilot.

I used to say that, come the Apocalypse, guitarists will be able to still play whereas all the synth players will be shuffling about in the distance. There'll still be the problem of strings though.

We won't be able, or maybe even have the right to employ humans to do important jobs if the results are better using AI. Scientific research may well also wither on the vine if AI is more effective, witness development of antivirals, new cancer treatment etc. Some humans will have to monitor the AI entities but in the end that will likely only be cosmetic as AI will do a better job of that, too. I don't think we CAN settle for second best if it is human-sourced though. Not at scale, perhaps individually.

If that does happen, our future lies in finding important things to do, such as relating, communicating, socialising.

The whole of production/reward in the normal mass integration of industry, governance etc will eventually be occluded into a self sufficient functioning ignored whole, which just leaves us. Perhaps not viewing economic growth as the most important thing will change things.

I don't know what the answer is, though insects, big cats, bears, squirrels, raptors, pigeons, elk, cod, dolphins seem to have found a way. More f*-ing and fighting.

I agree with your surmise at the top though Ramzi - people see what's coming and are making moves. I hope, as one of them, that there are enough. We'll see.

Like bruce lee said "be like water", go with the flow, bend in the wind amigo. Time to construct your assistant "Robo-rombsix-thousand", tailored to your own specific ideas. You can do this!!

We gen X's remain unphased, we are collecting vinyl cuz it is cool and nostalgic, and our eyesight has gotten worse so we like the larger cardboard artwork. We actually spend time listing to full albums, not 4 sec skip next brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... And the changes we have now are thought to be pretty slow to be honest...we expected to be roaming the radioactive wasteland post WW3, or getting a job hunting off-grid androids that broke the robot laws by now, chasing them down in flying cars. Bring it on.

We certainly need more data on this fake tits issues in space...perhaps next run some hands-on experiments?

I will forever be indebted to Bezos for continuing the Expanse at least through season 6. Next we need bimbo ice haulers at the rings of Saturn, or mining for silicon in the belt...if you want it you need to dig for it ladies!!

I'm surprised they haven't yet had a go at ESA and its parastronaut program on the grounds that it's "woke" or whatever. Granted, there's certainly a marketing side to it all, but sending John McFall to work on the ISS would be inspiring in a way that our "six bimbos'" tourist trip is not. I've heard from reliable sources that Musk was surprisingly accommodating when asked whether it would be feasible or not. But that was several years ago. No idea if it's still the case.
