Tomás was a great cantaor, almost as good as his father. However he has turned to experimentation, which I saw in a concert here. He is still good and well worth seeing, but don´t expect much flamenco. Look forward to your review

I saw a qawwali flamenco performance a decade ago. It shifts between sufi group and flamenco group and then the two groups together. So there is a risk of some flamenco!
And Perrate seems in good voice.

Recent canta a la Sibila.

His last album was produced by Raül Refree, who also produced Rosalia. Though it has some experimenting, also something about getting back to roots?

Wow I didn’t know they were still performing this project! Or maybe they weren’t until now. Besides the original, I did see the one on YouTube from many years ago with párate and David Lagos, oh and Carmen Linares. I really did not like her voice. But, it was a nice continuation of the project and I thought they made more progress, from the first DVD in France, of fusing the two genres together. It will be cool to see if they have anything new since then. Glad you are going Orson!

I saw Qawwali flamenco live in 2006 with Duquende. Not sure how it has evolved since then, but I'll take the chance to find out.

Nice! Just in case you haven’t seen the YouTube video I was referring to;

https://youtu.be/r42IYbXbjaM

It’s like the 2.0 version of the original.

What I find cool about this Perrate piece is it doesn't dive into any of the "jazz-minco " tropes or worse, some Kenny G sax-a-minco. Ok, the organ in this live version isn't all that great... I really dig the whole album this tune comes from.
