Diego Del Morao - Orate
Downloaded this album when I first started immersing myself in flamenco. Being new to cante, it took me a while to become comfortable with the vocals, but over time this album just gets better, better, and more better.
Crossing my fingers that it will be re-released on cd one day in the future.

He’s supposed to be releasing a new one at some point..... I was the same, I didn’t really get Diego when I first started playing, now he’s by very far my favorite.
I'm pretty sure it is, Ricardo - the cd is near impossible to find. There was a post on the foro a while back offering 150 euros for a mint copy of Orate. I do have it downloaded on my iPhone, but a cd just feels more permanent to me!

I'd also like the cd, or at least have it in FLAC. I bought the MP3 album years ago definitely one of the best albums of this decade. I can't blame you for not digging the cante it wasn't that great anyway.
Dunno. I enjoy most of them (Diego Carrasco not so much) but if you're talking cante jondo, which is usually what you would put at the top of the top, those aren't the names that come to mind. It's a good fit for Diego del Morao's style of playing though. I really (really) like his solo stuff but as an accompanist for proper cante jondo I wouldn't put him in the top tier.

That makes sense, they wouldn’t be my go to cantaores for cante jondo but flamenco is a wide spectrum. In fact yeah as cantaores go I suppose I see Diego Carrasco as his own thing, kinda like Tomasito, not really a “cantaor” per se but I do enjoy it and it is Flamenco.
I've never caught on to most of his stuff, but he did sing in what is probably my top pick for best solo guitarra album of all time, so there's that:
It's a good fit for him. Sort of like El Capullo, he's got that very specific niche of up-beat, sort of cachondo singing. Difference is that El Capullo is a hippie payo who's a gitano at heart, whereas Carrasco is a gitano who's a hippie payo at heart.
Anyways, Orate is a great album!

Hippytano Not the best song of his but pretty accurate.
Cachondo, haha, if that means the same thing to me as it does to you guys that's a pretty funny adjective for it. I dig the style though, muy fiesta. El Capullo was entertaining as hell live.
The way I understand it, the key is whether you're using ser or estar. Ser cachondo is to be a funny guy. Estar cachondo is to be horny. And confusing ser with estar is such an easy mistake...
@JasonM LOL I feel like I've just been rickrolled without the actual rickroll.

Diego Del Morao Diego cigala Diego Carrasco The Diego album was pretty good, but I agree light weight cante. Carrasco is not a Cantaor .... more like a great guitarist turned Flamenco rapper...

FWIW Guys;
I know that this is a VERY OLD post, but I have a *DEAD MINT* copy of this CD. Played only once to burn it. Then put away in its sleeve since then.
It's currently available on ebay for $115.00 + S&H, but I would gladly sell it here to a member for $100. + S&H. feel free to contact me at onthe4@shaw.ca
I haven't been active on this for for quite some time now as I'm no longer playing much flamenco guitar these days.
I'd actually like to sell off ALL off my flamenco CD's in case anyone's interested? I'm sure that there are a few that are now discontinued...

I've met Diego in a rip-me-off-as-a-tourist masterclass. He was an hour late for a masterclass in Jerez because his neighbour had a leak behind her washing-machine flooding her house.
