Stroke 4 thumb up...actually it should be more stiff and you hit the sound board with back of thumb nail on the way up. The result is a golpe sound in combo with the slap that gets a samba type groove going. For this reason we prefer a low bridge.

In fact, many quick abanico attacks also require this type of up stroke golpe to give a punchy attack. But for this type of rumba it is essential.
