Akustikwood
Anybody know what's happening with orders from Akustikwood in Turkey to the USA?
When I've ordered from Akustikwood in the past, they seemed slow to send the order and I never knew when it would arrive to me in the USA; usually after about a month, I think. Amazingly they asked me to pay only after receiving the orders. But I have found the quality of their woods to be excellent and their prices unbeatable. They told me that they are now set up to receive credit card payments, which would simplify the process for me.
I placed an order in October, using my credit card, and inquired about the status of the order in November. They said they were on it but I have still not received it (or seen a charge for it).
I thought I’d take a chance and order cypress from them but they never replied to my email. So I thought maybe that was a bad sign of things to come doing business with them. There doesn’t seem to be much options for cypress out there.
I've always found them to be relatively slow but the wood arrives and then the bill also eventually arrives! Great Cypress though! Akif was on it in May I had 3 emails from him which was for an updated price list then an order then to let me know it had shipped all that in 5 days! I got the wood and invoice within 2 months. That seems about right to me considering they only use the slowest courier method.
Two months with a bill that follows is significantly different than the customer paying in advance and not receiving the goods after four months. Just saying.
And because the guitar maker is going to continue to age the wood it doesn’t really matter who stores it, but after you tender money for goods the delivery should be reasonably responsive. No?
I wrote to them again on December 31st and got this reply yesterday, January 3rd:
Dear Mr. Deutsch, Sorry for long delay. We will ship your sets in a few days. You can pay later. I will inform you about this. Please find pictures of selected items for your order in attached files. Saygılarımla / Best Regards Akif TASATAN
The pictures he sent look very nice. Maybe they just had to find the tree.
I thought I'd get my stock level back up again so went for a browse. Webpage seems to have changed and not too much of an interface. However, I wrote to them and Akif replied after 2 or 3 days with assurances that everything is fine and they are still doing business. He attached the old price list which he said was still relevant and informed me that a new website was underway and that once complete, you will be able to order everything up through that. They have always been very good for me and I've only ever had one cypress set that I was less than pleased with, but still ok. Always a nice lot of extra wood in the packing too. Minimum order up a little but doesn't take much to get to €350 and postage is still included.
