Guest, if u are such a man and gonna insult someone, why not altist use your name or something ? why hide behind Guest title. Why not show us you music so that we can judge and listen to you play the "real "flamenco ? I might not be a better man than you but atlist i am not a mouse, if i have an argument with someone they know where its coming from i dont hide like a litlle mouse. If for whatever reason u have a problem with Todk whatever is between the two of you but to do it this way is pretty low. Comparing Todk to Bush is a cheap shot is like blaming Grisha for Stalin, grow up.
If u gonna be a man, be a man.
message to the members. Mibe its time to think about getting ride of the public area because every spineless wan**r out there can take cheap shots at anyone of us.

Guest if you are man enough register yourself in the forum and post as a man, maybe you won't because you are nothing... so what's the point in doing it right?

You shouldnt say that Todd. What if a guy whos better than you, like PdL, would call your playing crap? Should you change it then? NO! Not if you are happy with it, or if you dont see a reason to change the whole system.
Theres no discussion if somebodyy says "No flamenco" - that has no content, and therefore you shouldnt react on it!!

pardon my french but thats **** Guest, noone here gets threated like they are nothing, and if they do the rest of us jump in and defend him.
I see that you have a prob with Todk, dont know why, dont even care, but i lost repect seeing the way u went about it.
I have had disagreements myself with Todk in the past but seeing the way he handeled my insults has won me over.
Dude every single one of us has at one time been criticised, had they'r confidence killed, had they'r playing be put down, but what separates people is how u handle it and how u balance back from it, do u practice more play better or do you wait around and write insults not using your own name.
" to hold someone down means you have to stay down with them" learn what this phraze means
RE: Quality/Quantity in your playing (in reply to ToddK)
Ok, that would be your reaction/decision. I would ask what the problem is, which the critic claims to have found out. I would look closer at my playing regarding that point and after that would choose to agree or not.
My "advantage" is that it is more obvious what lacks in my playing Anyway, maybe "Guest" is able to tell a little more?
Ps: There a a few people I know, who cannot even play any instrument, but who have imo a good ear, good "taste", which simply means that they are knowlegeable in terms of music. Their opinion on my playing or better "sound" is as important to me as every other guitarist's.

theres no need for that , this is a international forum with people from allover the world, everyones english is how it is. His english is good enough ..
RE: Quality/Quantity in your playing (in reply to ToddK)
"no flamenco", "lots of notes" are not things that can be discussed. Its not even a well established opinion. Its a definition or evalutation, which depends on how you see it. For someone who does not like flamenco, saying its not flamenco might be a positive evaluation for example.
That Todd plays lots of notes is a FACT, but it doesnt tell anything on if its good THAT he does, or if its good HOW he does... and to make it really clear: It doesnt tell anything if or why playing lots of notes is flamenco or not!

Guest, You come across as a bitter, no-talanted wannabee who's tried and failed and you're only means of expression of your inner torment now is to slag off folk over the internet after a few drinks. Go finish the bottle and go to bed and in the morning look at yourself closely and ask what you can put into the world...it's never too late to pick yourself up.

Guest use proxy servers because Guest scared, so come on - not to protect Todd from opinion but just give me more IP of addresses for my collection so I can filter your little anonymous butt out of here, it's always great to find new ones.

Let me help Simon. Just a guess, but I would say it is good ol Flamenco PuristaAKA, Anonymous Guitarplayer101, AKA AndyB, who gives me and Todd a hard time over at FT occassionaly. Just ignore him and he will slither away. Although his advice about the DVD's from Florida was good.
RE: Quality/Quantity in your playing (in reply to ToddK)
Just don't think it's me! Todd don't like me anymore, but, I would never trash his playing! Take that, Toddmiester!!
I've always wondered why people a so concerned with him playing with a pick! WTF! He could play with his freaking toes and it would not matter...he's a player, that's what counts!
By the way, check out EBay...you might find some good deal on flamenco stuff!
RE: Quality/Quantity in your playing (in reply to ToddK)
By the way, Simon can check out the ISP from where I post from, and right now, I'm posting from Buger-Bottom, West Virgina...I just left Lizard Spit, Idaho, on my way to Monkey Run, Nebraska...doing the tour thing....
Hey, Simon, I like your blogs! How in the hell did you get permission to record a video on an airplane!
Also, my three Chihuahuas can kick your dog's ass! Your dog looks like just a big, old, sloppy tonque dog, ready to lick someone...!
RE: Quality/Quantity in your playing (in reply to Miguel de Maria)
Miguel, I don't think for a minute that it is AndyB...really? I thnk it's just some jealous person, like RonM said (another poster that does not like me anymore), it's just some troll that tries to play, but he cannot play like His Majesty, the ToddMiester!
Now, Ricardo...now there is a FAKE guitar player, if I've ever seen one! No talent what so ever...but, he tries, God Bless is little soul! LOL

Let us not let the "guest incident" stop us from expanding the excellent discussion topic. I must admit that my poor technique does not let me play anything perfectly (well enything I want to play that is :-). What I do is I have selected a "repertoire" and work for it for couple of months then practice techniques for good couple of months, then I come back and I'm blown away how much better I can play these pieces. Maybe in 10-20 more rounds I'll be able to concentrate on perfection. But to be frank I'd rather play difficult pieces roughly than easy pieces perfectly, maybe that's part of my problem :-) My technique is visibly improving each year now after I figured out what /how to practice (I'm selftaught and made every mistake in the book trying to play by ear)
RE: Quality/Quantity in your playing (in reply to ToddK)
Nice to bring us back to the subject, thanks Marius.
Just wondering about how other people approach this stuff. Everybody processes things a little differently.
Im sorta jealous of people who are able to read through new pieces quickly. I feel like it takes me forever to just get little bits.
I suppose alot of it comes down to, what is enjoyable. I often burnout on pieces before i get them nailed. Sometimes continueing to push a piece that you're tired of playing can be, well, not good. :)

Todd, I thought Ricardo said you learned some Paco piece in a couple weeks! What was it, I think one of your last videos he said you were asking him about what key it was in and next thing he knew, you were playing it on video. That sounds pretty fast to me.
Of course, what gets me is some of these pro musicians who seem to be able to play a piece with no rehearsal in concert. I heard some singers don't even have bands, they just hire guys in town they can just jump in--don't know if that's true or not. But at least the studio musicians can play on albums with little rehearsal time.

Merle
Honestly, over at the PDL forum, Errol posted my last vid I did with Ramin, and one spanish guy who plays GOOD on there, was convinced my performance was "playback"!
Anyway, back to topic, yeah little bits little bits, on and on until it is natural, like speaking or reciting something. Anything less for me and it is dangerous to perform. I have done it and screwed up everytime. One quote from Paco I read long ago in a magazine that really scared me: "If you think you are going to make a mistake, you are lost...". Man that got me practicing!
Miguel, for cante accomp. in a dance show, there does not need to be lots of rehearsal. Especially if you have worked with the singer once before. You have to know the standards, just like in a jazz group. The standards are for any guy who sits in, will have no prob. with no rehearsal. I have done a show with a singer I just met, no rehearsal just "where do I put the capo". In fact some singers will get uneasy if you tell them you want to rehearse the tonos. The hardest honestly for me is Sevillanas, cause it can change tonality, and there are so many different melodies. I dread Sevillanas when there is a singer I never worked with before. One singer said to me on stage "cinco...en mi". I was sweating plunking E major and Eminor as if to tune. Then he said "MI FA". I was like phew! But he ended it on A minor, LOL! I prefer Taranto, which is a hard one.

Surely you don't mean that guy Andy Blackhard??
I've only spoken to him on the FT Forum a few years back and on this Forum, before he took the huff a year or so ago, for some reason I couldn't quite understand.
But he seemed quite a decent guy....at least I thought he was?
