Suggestions For Starting Library

I would like to start building my flamenco music library and suggestions, with sources if possible, would be helpful.

I think I would like to start with a few works wherein different palos and compas are easily identified by a relative beginner, if there are such works.

Thanks

I have looked at a lot of books, now im a beginner, so this is just my 2 cents , but i really love the manuel granados books. The one with just exercises is worth its weight in gold ( for me anyways) and the 4 books with falsetas explains in detail almost every conceivable palos graded from level 1 to 5. It is probably a bit harder the the graf martinez books though.

Hi Gecko, if you want to read about other things than compas, I recomend you to read som of Donn Pohren's books like "Lives & Legends" and "The Art of Flamenco". These books will give you an eye-opening gaze into flamenco life as it was and as it sometimes still can be, if you are lucky to meet some of the people who see flamenco as their life style. Juergas that last 3-4 days and many really crazy stories of the flamenco people in Moron as Pohren experienced them himself in the 60ties.
ENJOY!
