Actually Manitas de Plata got me started on flamenco. It was Reyes' (?) singing...and of course Brigitte Bardot "dancing" (I mean with 16 that's "proof" of luscious debauched gitano freedom, isn't it? )
It took a while before I realised that flamenco was something else than Camargue/Gitanes/Gypsy-music ...

Oh my god that was brutal! It was like a car accident, so horrific but I can’t look away. He tried to play part of Paco Peñas columbianas, wow, rough.

I believe this is part of gypsy image he was building.

He can be seen hanging out with gypsies and talking in their dialect, but I believe he has no gypsy blood.

He was really skilled guitarist and was part of hanoi rocks who have been said to be the creators of glam rock and big inspiration to guns n roses.

I use the word was because now his skills are used to get drunk or high mostly.
