Hello guys, long time lurker and admirer of the huge wealth of knowledge here. My tastes as far as strictly Flamenco goes is mainly in the "traditional" soloist guitar realm. Sabicas (one of my biggest heroes!!!), Paco Pena, Juan Serrano, Manolo Sanlucar, Nino Ricardo, Montoya, Oscar Herrero, OLDER Paco de Lucia (before all of the Jazz fusion stuff...*vomit*), etc. you get the point. Haha. I avoid Gypsy Kings like the plague but am captivated by SOME of Rafeal Cortez, he is an exceptional player.
I'm still technically in my first year of learning to play (a crappy pause in learning due to broken thumb) and have been enjoying the ride/stresses/excitements/fun/passion of it all!
Glad to step out of the shadows and make all of your acquaintances

Welcome to the Foro. I share (and commend!) your taste in flamenco guitarists: Sabicas, Nino Ricardo, Paco Pena et al, including "early" Paco de Lucia.
Cheers,
Bill

Your avatar gave me a seizure lol Welcome! Try Pedro Sierra as a gateway drug to more modern tuque. I hate elevator BS too but the new guys playing actual palos is genius.

I will be doing a show at Alegria Nacional in NYC this Saturday night with Raquel Heredia. Never met her, no rehearsal we are just going for it. If you can make it out, please don't vomit!
Ricardo, if you're playing there on Saturday night I'll definitely pop in that night. I need to be seasoned into this once again. (Being around people, playing for others, etc ....)
