Eliasson Guitars?

I have been learning on a Lucida Picado LG797. Now I’m hoping to upgrade to a luthier made. There are so many choices of good, luthier built guitars that making an intelligent decision is difficult for me, particularly since I live in an area where playing any of them is almost impossible (flyover country in the American Southwest).

Since joining this board I have seen a number of threads about Anders Eliasson’s instruments, all I have read have been positive. Yet, I have not been able to find any comments from anyone who actually owns one. So, I would like to have any comments regarding his guitars from someone who actually has one.

I know Andres is a member here and follows the board, so if you’re uncomfortable with publicly providing comments please feel free to PM me.

Thanks

I've seen quite a few of his guitars now and played a couple. I liked them so much, I have ordered my own. They have a bright traditional blanca sound that I am after and it's nice to discuss every aspect with Anders, who is very knowledgeable and a very good player himself.

I own a model 2A, which I receivede last summer and is indeed worth the money.

It's easy to play, great flamenco sound and so far holds up good in the severe winters here in Chicago.

Some of the features I like is the guitar's ability to stay in tune and produce a loud punchy tone....very good for dance classes. The lead guitarists and I play for dance classes w/o amplifiers and we can be heard over the over the hoofs of determinded dance students.

Bob:

Model 2A? I see no models listed on Andres' web site. Am I missing something there?

Thanks

You're correct, he stopped listing the model 2A. I would email him and inquire if it's still available.

I see he only lists the model made with 1st class wood for around 2300.00 Euros. The 2A was not as expensive, as I recall it was 1600.00 Euros.

At the time I bought mine, he was making a few a year on a first come first served basis.

Good Luck,
Bob

Hi Gecko,
Check out this review on F-T:

I played this guitar and it certainly impressed me enough to order from Anders as well.

Gecko,
Yeah, I got a Flamenca 1a Negra from Anders in the summer.
I hate waxing lyrical about guitars....it serves no purpose.
It's a good, solid, professional guitar at a lot less than you'd pay for the "big" names.
Please don't ask me about scale length or the bracing system etc.
I'm not interested in that stuff...
I paid Anders to take care of that stuff!
I just enjoy playing it.

cheers

RE: Eliasson Guitars? (in reply to Gecko

Wow.

Here I take an afternoon of and the next morning I read this post. I have very little to say, I´m ovewhelmed. Thanks a lot for the nice words.

Yes sometimes I make a 2A. Anyone interested in one. I will have one finished very soon.

Sorín, you can see me playing one of my guitars on the Taranta falsetas I uploaded 2 weeks ago. There´s also a short video of me playing Rons negra some 7 - 8 month ago.

I´ve been working my kitchen this christmas, it took some 2 weeks of my working time, but I´m getting back on the track again. Henrik I´m probably going to join your back today and in a few weeks I will be full time with your thing. (and 2 others) I just need to finish a couple which are going to California (very close)

My prices will go up. Of course. Prices go up very fast here in Spain, so I have to follow, but for the moment I will take it easy and not raise the prices to fast. I raised to 2300 because I was told I was way to cheap (many builders here!!!!!!!)
At the same time I don´t like to much pressure. If I want to make a lot of money, I would be better of using my university carreer, but I build because I like it and I don´t want to loose that feeling. It would be the most stupid thing I could do.

It´s all about keeping up the good spirit and have time to play a few palos every day.

Well, I take it that you all like his guitars!

I guess I'll start putting together what I "think" I want and start a dialog with Anders.

What is the preferred way contact with Mr. Eliasson? E-mail?

Anders:

If you read this I going to e-mail you with my e-mail address (I don't post it on boards) and a couple of basic questions.

Thanks.

Gecko,

Saw your post a bit late, so I'm jumping on the end here.
I have owned an Anders Blanca since July.
It's a very nice guitar, so comfortable (neck really suits me), light and balanced, and feels like I have played it for years, it just has so much sound! I have a Cashimira 105 as well, but it just doesn't compare tonally or in terms of feel. As Nigel says it's unique, and I know that it was built with soul, I think that is something really special these days.

Cheers, Andy.

I have a blanca 2a model and I'm happy with her.
Mas o menos I can only agree with things sad before.
Good and pretty guitars.

RE: Eliasson Guitars? (in reply to Gecko

I also own an Eliasson guitar, a 650mm blanca which I received in November. Got it almost as a birthday present, and indeed the guitar is the best present I could possibly imagine. It is important to stress that Anders has perfect understanding of the concept of setup for a flamenco guitar. Therefore his guitars not only sound fantastic but are also very comfortable to play. Quite often even famous guitar makers forget that gitars are usually meant to be played by humans and not only by freaks of nature.

Another aspect of ordering a guitar from Anders is that you will be
given an opportunity to tailor some guitar parametrs to match your needs (provided you go for the primera model).

With an Eliasson guitar you won't suffer the GAS syndrom. Go for it!

Well, I'm on Anders wait list.

BTW, the 2A he is about to complete appears to be a very nice blanco. I probably should have got it, but I'm just not quite to the point where I know enough about flamenco to commit. Hopefully in 6 months I will be.

I've got an Anders Blanca that I've owned for two or so years now. it's a great guitar. The sound is excellent and as others have mentioned, it's very well set-up and super easy to play.

Here's a video of Anders playing my guitar much better than I can....

I was and am so pleased with the blanca Anders built for me end of 2008, that I made him a little pamphlet about it's construction.

Nice!

I'm also happy with my Anders blanca. I got it in April 2010. It still feels like it's getting better day by day. Yesterday there was a blizzard and the trains stood still, so I spent all day at the place where I practice just enjoying making sounds with this thing.. I forgot about time, food and everything.

These are magical words mrMagenta i'm using Alhambra 1C upgraded by a local Luthier with Golpeadoer and else to give the flamenco sound! When i put the Capo on the 6th fret to play a sole' Accompaniment i feel like i wanna cry Only Ramzi is able to produce a beautiful sound of any Guitar Having a handmade guitar is something unique. It's a total different thing. That's why i guess i decided not to spend a penny on Factory guitars anymore
