Barbero closing bars vs ? 
Marcelo Barbero steep closing bars appear to be designed for better sustain, but at a distance. The Negra I built seems to have alot of sustain for a 5 Fan design. Any opinions for or against steep closing bars

There are many different versions of that bracing around.
It's a bracing first designed by Santos; The plan of a Santos guitar made by David Merrin is interesting to show how Santos got to developing it, by passing through a previous version 7 + 2 closing bars..
Many of the old Conde have a bracing very similar and this helps making that distinctive distortion in the low frequencies.
Reducing the inclination of the closing bars, as Arcangel or Ramirez or Manzanero used to do, makes the sound a little more controlled in the low frequencies and classical like before pushing. Just generalizations, but I hope it makes the idea.
If you decide to take away the steep closing struts I suggest you to replace them with a perpendicular bar or a long contrapuente as some luthiers of Granada do.
On the contrary you risk to have either a dull sound (if you increase too much the top thickness) or an uncontrolled top.

I am leaning towards 5 parallel bracing for the blanca I'm building now. Thicknessed the top and about to brace on the domed(2mm) solera. Probably will use steep closing bars again, but also thinking about an open lower harmonic bar at least on the bass side.
