How to clean gunk off the neck
I have been playing with a bandaid on my left thumb and now the neck is covered with adhesive gunk. Soapy water and a sponge helps but doesn't remove all of it. What is a safe way to do this?

It depends on the finish on the neck.... Sorry but without knowing that its difficult to say. You could try with some of this agressive anti grease spray that people use to clean their kitchen when it gets al greasy.
Most finishes (shellack, nitro and water based lacquers) exept oil-varnish will accept turpentine or white spirit.

Yes I agree. Its possible to buy various 'adhesive removers' but they are relatively expensive and don't work any better than white spirit in my experience.

On 2 components laquer, poly urethan and nitro I often used furniture polish from Johnson, also without 2 components laquer I´ve used white spirit for pu, nitro and french polish. So generally I agree with Anders, too.

If the neck is not French polished I would use Autoglym which is a car paint compound. I have used it on Ramirez, Burguet, Carpio guitars. It is effective and does not damage the finish. But do not use it on shellac...

I like to use a product called googone. Smells nice and citrousy! I wouldn't use it if there is any bare wood. I haven't tried it on an oil finish either but works on fp and other laquers just fine!
