On the Social Side: Meeting Don Soledad
Over the years, I had the pleasure to form and cultivate friendships with a few members of this lovely community. With many I maintain an occasional but nonetheless meaningful correspondence, including of course a "friendship" on Facebook.
From time to time, a member will cross my path, in NY, Venice or, as tonight, in my third home, San Francisco.
Don Soledad (a fine flamenco player and recording artist, with an enviable collection of great flamenco guitars -who I am afraid is recently even less active on the Foro than I am), is in Napa Valley and San Francisco for a few days and concerts. And tonight (in 20 mins that is) my wife and I will have the pleasure to take him and his girl out to dinner.
There are so many of you, here, whom I would love to meet, and if you should ever plan to visit any of the three cities I mentioned, I hope you will let me know and carve out some time to meet and (as we do here) talk about the usual .... nails, strings, guitars and falsetas!

I move it to General, as I agree with Kiko. It was great to meet GJ and he remains a very good friend. I have also met Kate, Ailsa, El Craic, Fergusito, Stephen Hill and others in London and Spain over the years. It's worth the effort.

Thank you for giving this topic more relevance. I agree with you, participation on this foro really culminates with meeting each other, to order, buy or trade a guitar, take or give lessons, and even simply for the social pleasure of meeting a fellow flamenco.
As close as I always felt to Escribano, meeting him in person and in my home town, as forged a remarkable bond of friendship.
As I answered Don's facebook timeline, "There aren't many dudes who manicure their nails, out there, and even less who use them to play flamenco on orange guitars. So when these rare dudes meet, the event requires celebrating.

I agree-it is a pleasure to meet other players/friends of the flamenco guitar. I have met Ricardo and Grisha as well as luthiers Aaron Green and Tom Blackshear. And I bought a nice guitar from Orson W. a few years ago. I'm in NYC a few times a year and always enjoy talking "guitar".
